Synergy in Flow Retreat - Proudly Supported by the High Valley Dawn Crew!

Just a quick post to let you know that we are going to be officially taking a break from our annual festival/gathering this year and are getting behind sister event, Synergy in Flow.

At Synergy in Flow, you'll get a taste of all that High Valley Dawn goodness plus so much more in an intimate, 16+ retreat setting located in Byfield at the wonderful Forest Fields Campstay.

Held on June 14th & 15th, the two day event will feature some of the High Valley Dawn Crew as well as various other Presenters, Facilitators, Musicians and Artists from around the world.

Farm tour tomorrow (Sunday the 5th January, 2025) at 9am with Farm Owner Ross O'Reilly!

Due to popular demand, Ross will be hosting a special one-off farm tour tomorrow for the school holidays. If you're in town and looking for an educational and inspiring morning out then come join us!

Ross will give a history of the property and an overview of the vision for the farm while looking through the market garden, food forest and seeing the animals.

Just type High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm into Google Maps then enter the open gate and continue up and over the hill and into the valley. Ross will meet at the market garden gate at 9am sharp to start the tour.

If you missed our previous email, we are honoured to be once again hosting international man of mystery, Suveran Dewsnap for our inaugural quarterly 2 day deep dive course.

In this series, we aim to take you from permaculture zero to permaculture hero by teaching you the practical, hands-on skills through practical experience of what is happening on an established, working, off-grid permaculture farm from season to season.

This deep dive is all about summer in the food forest which includes a lot of understory, pruning and support species management as well as an introduction to Food Forestry and some theory and Q & A time with a master who has been in the game for over 30 years.

8:30am - 9:00am: An introduction to food forestry, visioning your dreams, food forest history/planning/implementation, the design and benefits of swales and the 7 layers of a food forest with farm Owner Ross O'Reilly
9:00am - 11:00am: An overview of food forests, the elements of a food forest and banana management with Suvi
11:00am - 12:00pm: Lunch
12:00pm - 2:00pm: Food forest pruning and maintenance theory (indoor session)
2:00pm - 2:30pm: Afternoon tea
2:30pm - 5:00pm: Hands-on pruning and maintenance experience in the food forest
5:00pm - 6:00pm: Down time
6:00pm - 7:00pm: Dinner
7:00pm - late: Fire side chats and jam session or movie night

Sunday 8th December

7:00am - 9:30am: Management of support species and canopy balance according to climate

Please note: Course guests are welcome to stay on the farm Friday, Saturday or Sunday in one of our glamping tents, tiny homes or they are welcome to camp for free but only the meals on the schedule are included with the course cost so it is advised to bring some food depending on your own schedule. We really invite you to come and experience living on a working permaculture farm for the weekend and we have great camping and cooking facilities on site.
