With hot weather expected this week, if you can't hold the back of your hand to the pavement for more than a few seconds, it's too hot for your pet 🌞
Hot surfaces don't just burn their paws; the high air temperature can also lead to dangerous heatstroke, as dogs can't cool themselves down effectively 🥵
During hot weather, only take your dog for a walk outside early in the morning or later in the evening when it is cooler. You should also avoid walking on hot surfaces like pavements, asphalt or sand.
This advice is crucial for our more vulnerable companions, such as flat-faced breeds, seniors, young pups, or those with existing health problems.
If you think your pet has overheated or is suffering from heat-related issues, call an RSPCA veterinary hospital or your local veterinarian immediately ❤️
