So this happened yesterday 😬 Bells pony is out of action so she requested a trail ride on Pip. The 5 yr old OTT who has done close to nothing since coming off the track due to injuries/illness/lack of time. Bells second ride on her and Pips third trail ride ever. Just a slow cruise up the road followed by a trot and canter in the arena. I knew this little mare had potential the moment I rode her and she blows me away every time she comes out to work. She looked after Bell like an old school hack ♥️ the aim is for Bell to take her out and about over the next few months and if she behaves she may become a permanent in our paddocks

We’ve been a little bit quiet here at AK EQUESTRIAN over the last few weeks
Sick kids and Covid finally hitting the house didn’t help but let’s be honest the weather has been MISERABLE 😩
But we’ve had a few days of sunshine and I am so bloody happy to be back on this horse!
A few weeks ago I had someone come out and check Big over and work her magic and it’s given me so much insight to this horse and the struggles we’ve had. So at 14 years old, we are starting fresh. Few weeks of rehab and then the next 12+ months is dedicated to this horse and seeing what we can achieve together.
Something has been missing from my life for the last few months and I just couldn’t work out why I was always a little sad, a little empty, always moody and feeling a bit like ‘what’s the point’. After todays ride I worked out what was missing ♥️ I feel a lot more like me again and it’s incredible how much of an effect this horse has on my life 🥰

SOLD 😍

Today I dropped Lola at her new home and I am absolutely so happy for this little mare and her next adventure with new mum Karen ♥️
Lola was extremely happy to walk off the float and find lots of green grass, and more space than she could possibly need to explore!

I love this little horse and I will never be able to thank her for all the lessons she taught me - even with the unnecessary sass she threw my way!

Can’t wait to watch the journey of these two as they form a partnership and live happily ever after!

Lolas latest adventure - a ride under the lights 😍

What a cracker of a sunset we had followed by some extremely chilly weather. It goes without saying, Lola handled it like a super star. Wasn’t even fazed by the wombats that were rustling around the outside of the arena 😬😂

Starting to get more balanced and can now pick up both canter leads and pretty easily I might add. Not bad for under 25 rides! The potential in this mare is endless….

LOLA - SOLD

My heart is a little torn typing this add but the time has come for Lola to find her new forever home!

15.2hh (unmeasured)
7 yr old
Black/brown STB mare

Race Name: Wanted Lady
Sire: Shadow Play (USA)
Dam: Winging It
DOB: 14/11/2014

Lola is a green broke STB mare. Last raced in 2021 she has come straight from the track to me. After spending some time in the paddock letting down Lola has taken the transition to riding horse like a natural.
She has shown no nasty behaviour, no dirt and has an extremely willing nature with a very smart mind.

Established in walk and trot and currently picking up the canter very naturally although she is still a little unbalanced in the arena, more so to the right rein.

Lola has been exposed to arena work, jumping, trail riding both solo and with company and has been on an outing to pony club. She has shown a very natural ability with everything I’ve thrown at her and picks everything up extremely quickly!

Lola would excel in any chosen discipline! She has shown true versatility and could stand out in a show ring, take someone through ARC and I also think she could make an exceptional endurance horse.

She has a lovely forward ground covering trot and her canter work so far has a nice bounce as apposed to the usually ‘flat and fast’ initial standardbred canter!

PLEASE NOTE!! Although the above sounds like an absolute dream, Lola is NOT suitable for beginners or novice riders. She is a mare and a very typical mare at that. When I got her off the track she was quite arrogant and pushy, but with ground work and some boundaries set she has become very docile and easily handled by my 10 year old (under supervision) She can be dominant in a paddock and is currently paddocked with two geldings and another mare and sits second in the pecking order. She is bossy with other horses at feed time but is respectful of humans.

She has not shown any signs of biting, kicking etc but she has plenty of sass and will require someone who has experience with mares and happy to keep her in her place. You will see from photos and videos that as she knows her place with me I can do anything.
And that takes me to the best part of her mare attitude. She has shown that she will do anything and give anything a crack for me. She has shown to be a mare that once a relationship is built she will give you her ALL ♥️ horses like this are one in a million!

Lola’s trainer would also like to be kept updated on how she is going and has followed her journey so far so that would be a requirement of sale 😊

Lots of photos and videos available upon request!

How is this for the first real attempt at the canter 😍
Absolutely nailed it on the left leg and picked it up easily multiple times. Not quite as balanced on the right but you can see the potential and it will come with more work!!

Fab day for a ride up the road! Lola’s first real go after we bailed with the wind during the week 🤪

Although a little unsure about being out by herself she really did so well. Even with her feeling a little hesitant she always listened to me and showed how willing she is to please. And really, for only her second time out on the road ever, with or without company, you can’t blame her.
I’ll take a step back on the ‘testing her out’ lessons and focus on more exposure of what we’ve already covered. Lots more trail rides with company and some more jump work!

And to top off the ride we even managed to pick the canter up in the arena on first ask! Only a little pig root purely from being unbalanced and uncomfortable but the canter itself is quite nice! Sadly no video footage but there will be some to come!

Nothing like testing the limits on the green broke standy 😬😂
Little legend actually did better than I thought, and after a little cruise around the arena we headed out for our first solo trail.
The wind picked up a little too much for my liking though so after a very toward walk up the road I hoped off and walked home to make sure the experience stayed positive!
A few spooky moments that were completely warranted - horses running at us through trees - not to mention the surrounding trees blown so hard they were horizontal 😅 but I’m so proud of how she kept herself and I never felt like I lost control. She listened to me and even walked home at the end of the lead with the wind still this strong!
We will try again on a better day 😂

For full effect listen with sound 😬

2) spectate the pretty ponies cantering and jumping ✅
3) attempt the cross rails ✅

After a bit of a wobbly start Lola got the hang of things pretty quickly! She really wasn’t sure what I was asking if her but not once did she tell me ‘no’ or think to refuse. Once she realised what the job was she hooning around! Quite literally 😂 we are starting to get a lot more balanced in the arena and she is certainly becoming more comfortable with everything and allowing herself to travel around well!

I forget how little amount of rides this horse has had - I think we are sitting at number 8. But she is proving my theory correct - keep her busy and change things up! I think she really loved today! Longer video but definitely worth watching how she ticks it over in her mind and picks it up!

LOLAS FIRST TRAIL RIDE 😍

Impressed doesn’t even begin to explain it! Yesterday we tacked up and headed off on our first trail ride off property! I haven’t ridden her for a few weeks and she is still under 10 rides and handled yesterday like an old pro!

From passing wombats, to paddock mates hooning around, passing farm buggies, leading the group, middle of the pack and taking up the end she just took it all in! It says a lot about a horse when you can pull your phone out mid trot to start filming 😂

She’s such a ballsy, smart and willing horse. Not spooked or fazed by anything and took the dirt rodes barefoot!

Few more rides out like this, testing her ability out on her own and a few more tasks to tick off and she will be up for sale!!

Big thanks to Ashleigh Pye and Dazzle for playing lead pony and testing her ability to handle horses in her space and Cass for having way too much fun on her old boy Alby providing me with plenty of laughs 😂
