Fresh pastures have struck after autumn rains

After a nice little drop of Autumn rain last week, the new seeded pasture has struck! Everyone is getting their fluffy winter clothes on now, and the seafog makes for some beautiful autumn evenings on the farm.

We have a strictly limited supply of our highly regarded home grown, grass fed, Whole Dorper lamb boxes available for purchase (pick up date Sunday 17th of May)

our lamb boxes generally average 24kg

$300 a lamb 🐑 (sold only as wholes) and processed by our local Sheffield butcher.

You Must be able to collect from Wesley Vale on Sunday 17th of May.

Two different types on offer, Huey is showing early indications of being a thoughtful handy wide casting paddock type, and Havoc is a bold tenacious pup with a big bark and plenty of grit, suited to yards and truck work.

Autumn 🍂 Farm Projects progress

Stage two on our working dog exercise yard upgrade and new purpose built puppy pens project was completed yesterday. Extremely happy with how this project is progressing! Whilst the rain has not been seen in many months 😢 and we have more a dust issue than a mud problem, we know that all things change eventually and mud management in winter is a critical factor in keeping animals healthy and warm. This concludes stage two of the new Puppy pens, with stage 3 to be building permanent raised shelters in both pens. Stage 3 of the dog yard upgrades will see the entire yard spread with crusher dust, additional cameras to monitor each yard remotely, and some new kennels installed in yard 2.

With the lifting of the fire 🔥 ban last week, and cooler temperatures, it was also the ideal time for burning the piles of waste from clearing the farm drains and fences over summer! Made for a great Saturday evening with a beer and a chair keeping an eye on it as it settled.

Busy month again in April… our autumn development paddock has been worked up and seeded down ready for a lush spring. Two new custom puppy pens have been built, and the flock has been drenched, vaccinated and drafted, in prep for joining next weekend. We will have a small group of fat lambs to turn off as Boxed lamb 🐑 in the next 2-3 weeks. First in best dressed…. $300 a box, generally range 22-26kg dressed. Message us to book in
