Meet Rescued Girl Cherry Blossom aka ‘itchy bum’. Volunteer Tara took this sweet girl home to treat. Here’s an update. 🐓🙏

Just a little update on itchy bum #005 who came home with me a few weeks ago.
Her skin was red and featherless on her back end.
I treated her with some anti fungal cream for the first week and then just made sure she had plenty of good food with extra protein (she loves the soldier fly larvae). She is regrowing her feathers now. So many pin feathers all over her body! I can’t wait to see what she looks like when they’ve all come in. 🩷🐔

Meet Mel, one of the kindest souls on the Planet with sweet hospital girl Tina. 🥰🐓 Celebrating Volunteers Week 👏🏻💛
We are so grateful to have you in our community Mel 🐓🙏

‘I have been a volunteer at WHO Gives A Cluck? for almost two years. It is a beautiful community of compassionate people, all wanting to make a small difference in a collective way.
Chickens, like all animals, are sentient beings, each with their own unique personalities. Some are social, some are curious, some are shy, and some are bossy. It is incredibly special to earn their trust and watch them thrive away from a life of servitude as caged battery hens.
I like knowing that my time directly improves the quality of life for these once-vulnerable animals who are being given a second chance to live the remainder of their lives in peace, simply being chickens.
It feels deeply meaningful to support and help promote ethical treatment and awareness about the lives of humble ex-battery hens. I feel such gratitude to be a member of this beautiful community.’

Flash Flooding in our Brisbane Hen Hospital. 🏥 not only drenched our non walking hen ward but identified the need for a better drainage path. The girls were quickly rescued and warmed up inside Heather & John’s home with warm baths, gentle blow drying, warm food and lots of cuddles. Everyone made it. Big thanks to Bonney for helping out too!! 🐓❤️🙏
