I have been waiting for this for a long time. When I got Benji 10 years ago, I wanted a dog that would fit cabin luggage in case I would ever be allowed to take him on a plane. With this change my long term goal doesn’t seem to be too far off ❤️

PUPPY SCHOOL STARTS NEXT WED 23 JULY IN MARRICKVILLE – EVENING CLASSES (6.45PM)!
This is a group class with lots of support and a focus on real-life puppy know how. We teach more than just ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ and a little bit of socialisation. We help you raise a calm, confident, and (mostly 😉) well behaved puppy to enjoy life with you.
Over 4 weeks, we’ll cover things like:
– toilet training
– socialisation and play (done right!)
– sleep and alone time
– preventing nipping, biting, and chewing
– walking on lead, recall, leave it, going to their bed
– polite puppy manners
– calmness and relaxation
– plus some fun little tricks and loads more
The classes are practical, friendly and hands-on, and I’m always here in between for questions or support.
For puppies from 8 - 24 weeks of age.
If you’ve got a puppy or know someone who does, feel free to reach out – we would love to have you.

🐾 Urban Agility is back! 🐾
Join us in Newtown on Saturday 28 June at 12:45pm for a fun and dynamic Urban Agility Workshop! We’ll be using everyday park features to build confidence, coordination, and connection with your dog — think balance, jumps, and creative challenges. 💪🐶
Perfect for dogs who love to move, think, and try something new! No prior agility experience needed.
It’s been three months since Mary joined us — and slowly but surely, she’s finding her feet. In rescue, there’s a rough guide we often refer to: 3 days to acclimate, 3 weeks to start settling in, and 3 months to begin feeling at home. But it’s just that — a guide. Every dog writes their own story, and Mary’s has been unfolding gently, at her own pace.
For the first two months, we asked very little of her. We let the medication do its job, observed her quietly, and focused on helping her feel safe. No pressure, no expectations — just building trust through calm consistency.
Now, at the three-month mark, we’re beginning to explore more. We go for short walks. She wears a coat. She’s learning “touch” (nose targeting). We’re introducing brushing, crate training, and soft handling.
Today, we trimmed the fur around her eyes and muzzle. I started by trying with Ian feeding her, but it was dragging on. In the end, Ian held her while I did the trimming. She was scared, and she didn’t enjoy it — but she coped. And afterwards? Her recovery was quicker and easier than expected. No hiding, no shut down. She bounced back beautifully, which says so much about how far she’s come.
I often see people rushing things — wanting to take the dog for a walk right away, expecting them to sit, to be cuddly, to tolerate grooming. But the truth is: none of that matters if the dog doesn’t feel safe. When we push too soon, we’re meeting our own needs — not theirs.
Mary is showing us what’s possible when we slow down, listen, and let the dog set the pace. It wasn’t a perfect groom, but it was a beautiful step forward. These small, quiet wins are everything. 💛

Our Story
Our story started in 2013 ... no, actually it started many years ago when I (Kerstin, founder of K9Fun) was 13 years old and my family adopted Benny, a 1 year old German Spitz, from a local shelter in East Germany. My family has had dogs before but none of them were ever allowed inside the house. I lived on a farm, so most animals were there rather for a purpose than just cuddles on the couch. This changed with Benny. Benny was MY dog. She slept in my room, slept in my bed, escorted me to the school bus in our village and waited outside our farm every afternoon for me to return from school. She went with me everywhere, she was my companion, my friend, my buddy. She loved stealing sugar cubes from our kitchen table, she is the reason why none of my cuddly soft toys from childhood are alive anymore, she buried her bones in mom’s pot plants around the house or even between the cushions of our couch. Every Sunday at 3pm she would sit at the end of our street in my village and bark, for no particular reason. Just because ... She didn’t like cyclists, and neither did she like one particular client of my parents company. My friends were her friends, the people I didn’t like, she didn’t like. She was there for me when I was happy and I was sad. This was Benny.
Now this relationship with Benny is how I love my relationship with a dog to be. It’s neither my fur baby, nor my best friend because I got my human bfs to share vino and advise with :) But my dog is my companion, my buddy, my friend, my family. We look after each other, each one in their capacity.
With K9Fun I want to help people to create, foster and maintain a beautiful companionship with their dog. I would like to help by removing frustration and stress, and add joy, fun and trust. When talking about training, people often think of it as a duty and on one side it is. But think of it as playing games with your dog. Think of it as spending time together, bonding, learning from each other and learning to understand each other. Training is part of shaping that communication with your dog.
We offer group classes, boarding service, private consultations, puppy classes and work with a wide network of other canine trainers and specialists that are the best in their field.
Drop us a line or call us. We love to hear from you.
