Rescue Dogs are the heart of Howling Success Dog Training and Behaviour. All of our team members cut their teeth in the animal industry by working hands on in a No Kill Animal Rescue on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. In our combined 16 years and counting of work in Dog Rescue we all noted how many dogs were either surrendered or over looked for adoption due to behavioural issues. This is how the

Can we get a Howling Congratulations for our August Beginner Scent Class Graduates!!

We had so much fun with this brilliant group of dedicated humans and dogs! Every single dog and handler team showed so much aptitude for the game that in our graduation lesson almost everyone completed their runs in under 1min!! 🥳🤩

While this will be our last group class at and for 2025 due to their super exciting renovations - that doesn’t mean the fun is over!

We can’t begin to tell you how excited we are about the renovations and new offerings that will be happening at and over the coming months! Go and check out the post on to hear all about it and be sure to give them a follow.

But, this does mean that we will be pressing pause on group classes until the start of next year. For anyone who is kicking themselves for holding off signing up to our popular group sessions please rest assured that we have private training options available to suit every need and budget.

Zoe, Mason and Rockit first came to us for a private consult to prepare for the exciting arrival of their first children (yep—twins! Double the joy 👶👶🐶 Did you know Jess is a twin too?!).

It’s been a bit quiet on our socials this week — and here’s why! 🤩
Jess from and Beau from spent three days at the 2025 Australian Institute of Local Government Rangers Conference in Penrith, representing the Pet Professional Guild Australia ( ) Both Jess & Beau are members of the PPGA Council Education Subcommittee, with Jess also serving as Chair of the Subcommittee.

While Jess has been attending the conference since 2022 — and spoke on the nuisance barking panel last year — this was her first time attending the full program. And what a wonderful experience it was. Not least of all having the chance to socialise at the end of each day — always one of the best parts of any conference! 🤩🥂

This year’s conference theme was Risk, Resilience and Regulation, with presentations covering everything from court procedure and evidence-based risk assessment to bite prevention and verbal de-escalation techniques (yes, Verbal Judo is a real thing — and it’s absolutely brilliant).

The Pet Professional Guild Australia’s involvement in events like this helps ensure the voice of force-free animal trainers is part of the conversation when it comes to public safety, policy, and animal behaviour. We were also very proud to be Silver Event Sponsors this year.

A huge thank you to the AILGR organisers and to everyone who stopped for a chat. The PPGA, Stellar Paws, and Howling Success teams are just so proud to be part of this work — and even prouder to see force-free training continuing to show up in these important spaces.

🎓 Congrats to our June Beginner Scent Graduates! 🐾✨

These four super sniffers wrapped up their class last weekend and we couldn’t be prouder! Over the past four weeks, they’ve built up confidence, focus, and stronger bonds with their humans — and we’ve loved watching every tail wag along the way (even if everyone put their serious faces on for grad pics 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Loose Leash Legends – Graduated! 🎓
We wrapped up our latest loose leash walking course over the weekend at and what a crew!

This skills-based class focuses just on loose leash walking, with all the foundation behaviours that help make it possible. It’s about giving our clients something they can actually use—out on real walks, in real life.

Jess – like a good dog on a bone! 🦴😎

We’re really proud of this review from Anelo and Shaka, who came to us after a one-off incident led to a menacing dog declaration from Council. Jess worked closely with them to navigate the process, and we’re thrilled to say Shaka is now officially a free dog! 🙌

It’s been such a joy getting to know Jasper and Rosie and their wonderful humans as they explored the world of scent training together. 🌿💛

Our Beginner Scent Class isn’t just about learning new skills—it’s about building confidence, enriching our dogs’ lives, and creating beautiful moments of connection.

For sweet Jasper, who is losing his eyesight, new environments can feel a little overwhelming. That’s why we delivered his classes privately, right at home, where he felt safe and comfortable.

If you’ve been thinking of trying scent class with your dog but think a group setting might be too much, we can bring the Beginner Scent Class to you. Private sessions can be held in your own home or in solo sessions at Canine Kindergarten—whatever suits your dog best. It’s all about creating a safe, positive space where they can thrive.

Our Story

Hi. I’m Jess, the founder of Sandstrom Dog Training.

Dogs have been our companions and friends for thousands of years, but never before have they had to conform to the environmental and social constraints of humans in the way they do now.

"I believe, by helping my clients create a deep relationship which goes beyond the basic dog/owner dynamic, the benefits are not only for the team I’m working with, but greatly reduces the risk of dogs being surrendered to shelters, or abandoned due to behaviour which may be labelled as ‘antisocial’."

I use science based, positive reinforcement techniques, allowing both person and dog the space to learn how to communicate with each other without the use of force, and allowing their relationship to flourish.
