If you are starting at earthdog, wanting to start at earthdog, or if you're currently trialling at earthdog with a dog that is failing, this seminar is designed to help you and your dog prefect the tunnelling aspect of the earthdog trial.

This seminar is suitable for both beginners just introducing tunnelling for the first time, and for those who are trialling who are wanting to refine their dog's tunnel entry.

The seminar covers:

-Successful first introductions

-Troubleshooting a beginner dog (reluctance, backing out, corner hesitancy)

-Speedy entrances (& fixing dogs who fluff around!)

-Hidden entances

-An opportunity for questions

The seminar is designed and run by Tegan Whalan, Earthdog judge since 2008. Tegan holds Certificate III in Dog Training and Behaviour, and is a qualified and registered teacher and trainer. Tegan has trained three border terriers to Earthdog Champion level, and has titled thirteen dogs in total in earthdog. She also partakes in other sports like tracking, dances with dogs, and conformation.

Our mobile home grooming service, hand stripping border terriers, is offered at $100 for the first hour and $50 for every hour after that.

Today, I worked on my own dog, Tex, for exactly one hour and this was the result. (I have a preference for him keeping more hair on his tail and head so I have mostly left those.) Keeping in mind that Tex has a good coat and is very compliant for grooming, so the process is easier and quicker for him than some dogs.

We have availability in the coming weeks for hand stripping so please get in touch if you have an interest in booking in your own dog.

Just a reminder that you only have two days left to register for Helping Harvey! This is a six week 'watch and learn' package to see how we work with reactive dogs to improve their behaviour around other dogs. If you have a dog that barks and lunges at other dogs on walks, this is the perfect cluster of sessions for you to learn from.

Online Reactivity 'Watch and Learn' Training

For something a little different: I am offering an online experience where you can watch me train a dog 'out of' reactivity. Harvey will be coming to stay form August 25 and I plan to video my work with him for 6 weeks, and allow ten people to come along and watch how we do it.

How it works:
We will be undertaking an intensive six week program with Harvey to improve his behaviour when on lead around other dogs. We will be filming our progress and sharing it with ten participants through WhatsApp (a phone based applicatino). Participants are welcome to ask questions on the videos, with the view to provide them with skills to work with their own dogs' reactivity.

What's included:
Included for participants is:
3 or more progress videos per week
2 or more explaination videos per week
The ability to ask Tegan questions regarding those videos, through the WhatsApp group

These videos are available any time (i.e. there is no need to watch 'live'), and are available for participants internationally.

Training will include:
-Engagement
-Loose lead walking around distractions (including other dogs)
-Tricks like spin and touch and their use in reactivity
-Desensitisation and classical conditioning to dogs and car rides
-Tolerance to grooming (hand-stripping)

NEW MOBILE GROOMING SERVICE

I am now open for bookings for hand stripping border terriers in Adelaide and the greater region. I come to you and strip dogs in their own home.

I have owned border terriers for 20 years and have always stripped my own dogs, plus have stripped numerous border terriers for the public on an adhoc-basis.

I bring everything that I need (grooming table, grooming arm, tools, and finger & thumb!) - all I need is a space under a veranda or where you don't mind dog hair going everywhere! (Evening bookings also require decent lighting.)

There are no travel costs for owners in: Adelaide Plains Council, Wakefield Regional Council, Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council, Light Regional Council, Barossa Council, Town of Gawler, City of Playford, City of Tea Tree Gully, and City of Salisbury.
Travel costs apply for those outside of this area.

Hand-stripping is available for $100 for the first hour and then $50 for every hour after that. Discounts apply for multiple dogs. For dogs that are intolerant of grooming, training and desensitisation is also available.

We were delighted to do a home consult with Lakoda (pictured) and Scout today, all the way up in Laura! We happily do home consults across the mid-north and metropolitan Adelaide.

Lakoda and Scout have recently decided they don't want to get in the car anymore and so we worked through strategies to show them that the car was worth jumping into, plus explicity training feet up behaviour.

Good luck Lakoda and Scout. 🥰
