Little man Max has been with us for a few weeks now…brought in as a trapped stray with lots of cuts and scratches who had no vet work completed and we were unable to find his owner.

So now his vet work has all been done, Max is waiting for his forever home here at the Penna shelter…he is a sweet, cuddly boy who wants nothing but love and affection…but he is not coping here and has started to overgroom himself due to stress which has led to some bald patches which you can see in the photo.

We would dearly love for Max to be adopted but in the meantime we’d really love if someone could foster him so he gets some more one on one attention and give him a break from being in the cattery.

Max is probably best suited to a home with another friendly cat or he’d also be quite happy to be the king and be on his own.

Community Update on the Trapping of colony Cats
Please note that in the coming weeks we will stop trapping due to kitten season.

Here is another update from us to keep you up to date with how we are going with the colony cats at the Hill St Grocers in Longford and McDonald’s at Kingsmeadows…

We are pretty positive that we are on the tail end of both these locations and there are less cats in these areas - we can never clear the entire colony sadly but we always do our best.

So far 53 cats have been removed from the Mcdonalds colony and 33 from the Longford Hill St Grocer.

West Tamar Council have been trapping at the Tailrace recently and removed 16 cats from there who all arrived to our Facility.

Every Trapped cat who arrives at Just Cats are checked over - this is to make sure that
1. they are healthy and well
2. there are no injuries that need to be addressed
3. to check if they are microchipped or desexed

Just a reminder that -
WE ARE NOT FUNDED BY ANYONE TO DO THIS....

All of the above costs our Organisation between $350 - $550 per cat as long as they do not require extensive vet work such as dentals...

Community Notice

Just Cats have an arrangement with a local property owner and together we are finally cleaning up the colony of cats located at McDonalds in Kingsmeadows that we have been aware of for over 3 years.

There are over 20 adult cats that are part of this colony and many kittens
We have currently removed 29 from this location.

If you live in this area please make sure your cats are in your home on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night after 8pm - better still keep them confined 24/7 to keep them safe regardless.

This poor little guy came in this morning after the wonderful staff at the Mornington Tip found him in-between some mattresses that had been dumped.

He is anaemic, has cat flu, flea burdened, dehydrated and weighs only 472 gm when he should be 800-900gm for his age 😞

Little guy has a tough road ahead but we’ve already commenced treatment so hopefully we can provide a more positive update in a few days 🙏
