A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity which was started in 2018 on a property in Banjup as a way to help homeless animals, many of which were saved from abuse or neglect. From humble beginnings when they adopted dogs and rabbits, to their first farm animal and native animals. Their aim is to provide care and rehabilitation for animals without owners especially those who are sick o

r injured. Later on came Phoebe, a two-day old (1-kilogram) piglet who was left in a cardboard box at a zoo entry. Next was Tommy the calf who was rescued from a salesyard, and The Addams family flock of sheep who needed a new home. A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is now set on a 200-acre property near York in the wheatbelt and while they don’t have the funds to adopt every animal, they also help with finding new homes through their adoption program. They have been able to find more good homes for animals through this program than they would have alone, as the numbers of animals that need new homes is sadly immense. While primarily they provide a home for farm animals, they have also adopted native animals, dogs and rabbits, as well as sheep, rams, cows, pigs, alpacas, goats, chickens, roosters, and more. A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is committed to giving farm animals a new, better life. Many of the animals who they have found a forever home were saved from abuse or neglect, while others were simply unwanted or abandoned. As a registered charity all their funds go back into the direct care and rehabilitating orphaned or sick and injured animals. They hope to educate and raise awareness of living a conscious, ethical life that excludes the exploitation of animals. It is our mission to care for animals, and provide them with a life worth living, but feed costs, vet bills, bedding and other costs are expensive so please donate. ABLAS Supporters, Do you care about animals?

There is 1 day left (30 Aug) until the parliamentary petition to ask the government to recommence the WA Animal Welfare Act update ends.

This petition is important because the act is the main legislative mechanism we have for animals and it's so outdated the Act doesn't even recognise animal sentience and fish are not recognised as animals. WTF?!

The AJP, Liberation Cooperative and Free the Hounds have all posted about this. Yet under 4,000 people have signed the petition at present.

2. Like/comment on posts about the petition
3. share posts across social media
4. create your own post/story etc. with a link to the petition.

These actions help get these posts out to a wider audience. Surely we have more than 4,000 people in WA that want better legislation for animals? People are just not seeing the petition or understanding the importance of signing.

We can all play a role in amplifying the message, getting signatures and getting the government to do better.

If we don't take action it sends a message to the government that people don't care about animals.

Show them we do.

Rocky insisted on accompanying his best mate Cluck Norris to Perth Pet Vet today as his loyal bodyguard 🐕🐓💪. What he didn’t realise was that he was also on the appointment list himself!

Sadly, the little lump on Rocky’s eyelid has doubled in size, and the vets have recommended surgery to remove it, followed by a biopsy to check if it’s cancerous 💔.

Our brave boy was very nervous today, but he handled it with all the courage we know he has. Please send him all your love and healing vibes as he gets ready for his surgery 💕✨.

As for Cluck Norris he's still defying the odds of being diagnosed with carcinoma 7 months ago and the vets still think he has some time left ❤️❤️

An update on Mr. Cluck Norris.

Soon after the tragic loss of his lady friend, Mr. Cluck Norris was diagonozed with terminal carcinoma and given two months to live. That was six months ago.

Cluck as since been on palliative care, receiving twice daily medication. The old man however lives up to his name and continues to rule the roost, forming a special bond with one of the Silkie ladies, and continuing to push around the rooster Eli - another survivor - who is at least twice Clucks' size 😂

Whilst we can't directly ask Cluck how he is feeling, he is getting around, interacting with the other hens / roosters, eating, drinking, and crowing. We are committed to keeping him comfortable for as long as he is able to enjoy life.

Cluck will be off to the vet again on Monday to assess his condition and decide how to progress with his treatment.

We have several residents who are on ongoing medication and regular vet visits for the rest of their lives. Please contact us if you would be interested in sponsoring one of our residents ❤️
