In 2024 I have been lucky to have been asked to work on (and attend) some wonderful events and I'm looking forward to many more to come!

I always cut my carrots length ways to avoid any risk of choking. It gives me anxiety seeing carrots fed whole, or cut into disks 🙈

⚠Health alert - Feed your carrots cut! There has been a high incidence recently of choke cases involving carrots.
Whole carrots are almost the perfect size to block a horse's throat if they don't chew them properly (or inhale them like a speed eater!)

Carrots are a super healthy treat that is high in Vitamin A (Carotene) but it's safest to cut them lengthways into narrow 'sticks' that will not get caught if they swallow them whole. Even though it seems like extra work, it's always better to be safe .

I've recently had some lessons with Dirk Dijkstra and really enjoyed them. Dirk is happy to travel out to the Macedon Ranges to teach if there is enough interest, would anyone be interested in joining me?

I'm thinking the lessons can be either at Quiet Oak or Macedon Ranges Equestrian Center (Newham), but the location and date can be worked out if there is enough interest.

Hard to believe a time when we didn't have our phones on hand to film every ride.

Aside from a VHS of his very first dressage test stored somewhere at my parent's place, this is the only footage I have of the great Batten Dutch Image.

While there isn't much in the way of visual memories of him, I'll never forget how good riding him felt, when it all came together we were invincible. I can only dream that one day I'll again experience this feeling on a horse I've trained from a 4yo to FEI 💞

One of the lovely ponies we had in for a Christmas swim program, Lani.

Lani is a return customer to Erin's Equine Services, predominantly coming to build and strengthen her back & stomach muscles every couple of months for a short stint.
This time we made it a double whammy with her owners having one less horse to worry about over the holiday period and coming back stronger than ever.

Lani had water treadmill swims and an equissage treatment as part of her stay, as well as a full body cryotherapy session. Merry Christmas Lani!
