Lunch at 4pm is pretty standard for these two but at least they’re eating!

It’s been a bit quiet on here because between running the shop and chasing after the kids, there just hasn’t been a spare moment.

It’s been a big week though! We’ve had a huge freshwater shipment come through today and restocked on marine fish, corals, and inverts.

Today we celebrate 21 years in business.

With each passing year, I find myself less guarded and more open to sharing parts of our journey that once felt too raw. These photos aren’t perfect, but they’re real — and they represent where it all began.

This store didn’t come from generational wealth. It came together little by little with more heart than money and more determination than experience.

We grew up watching our parents make sacrifices so we could have opportunities they never had. They built their lives around giving us the best chance they could. That kind of selflessness and strength is the foundation of everything we stand for.

Some of you have been part of our story since day one. You’ve seen us grow not just in business, but in life — from two kids figuring things out to building a life, a business, and a future together.

You’ve shared in so many of the moments that shaped us. We’ve laughed together during the highs, leaned on each other during the lows, and celebrated milestones that once felt out of reach. You’ve offered encouragement when things were tough and cheered us on when things finally started to fall into place.

Your kindness, loyalty, and belief in us have meant more than we could ever put into words.

And to the handful of people who started as customers and have become lifelong friends — you’ve quietly given us your time and energy to help us reach our goals. You’ve never done it for recognition but only because you genuinely wanted to see us win. We thank you, and we want you to know that we wouldn’t be here without you.

We’ve stocked up on a huge range of hardy, reef-safe inverts that play essential roles in maintaining a healthy aquarium environment.

We had the chance to share a little of what we do with Anderson's daycare. Andy brought in some snails, starfish, and sea cucumbers for the kids to see up close and gently explore. Their excitement, curiosity, and careful hands said it all.

Anderson showed up in his little uniform and work boots, just like Andy. Ready to be part of it all.

He's always proudly told anyone who'll listen, "my mummy and daddy have a fish shop." And somehow, that simple little sentence feels like the biggest reward of all.

Fish World Aquarium will soon be celebrating 21 years in business.
