Lulu receiving many cuddles from our surgical nurse Andrew and of course cuddles from Dr Luke our surgical resident at 🤍

A little bit about Lulu’s journey with us! Lulu was seen by our emergency department for hind limb paralysis and referred to see our surgical specialist team. Since then Lulu has received a very complex spinal surgery and has spent many nights with our team. Lulu is now back to his silly and gave Dr Luke many kisses on his most recent check up! 🤍

Meet the adorable Logan, a long haired Weimaraner who recently cared for during his heart procedure. Logan required a PDA procedure with Dr. Richard Woolley from Cardiorespiratory Pet Referrals.

What is Patent Ductus Arteriosis (PDA) This is a small vessel connecting the pulmonary artery and the aorta (takes blood from the heart to the lungs). In a developing foetus the blood bypasses the non-functioning lungs through this vessel. Normally after birthing this vessel will close in the first few days of life but in some cases like Logans this does not occur. This means the heart must work harder to meet the body’s oxygen demand and this can become fatal if untreated.

PDA procedures in dogs closes the abnormal connection between the aorta and the pulmonary artery. Dr. Woolley dose this using a minimally invasive catheter technique.

Luckily for Logan he was diagnosed and treated and is now living a much more active and longer life thanks to the amazing Dr. Richard Woolley and the care that he received in our hospital. 🤍
