Our darling girl Sisi was due on Thursday, after 2 days of zero contractions, she had a C-Section delivery this morning. As Sisi is a maiden bitch and was mated using AI with imported semen - this can result in small litters. However our 2 precious bundles have already stolen our hearts! Being a c section delivery, the mothering instinct takes a while to kick in, we will be on 2 hour feeds, latching the babies on to mum, until her own mothering skills emerge. She cannot be left alone for a minute as she could accidentally squash & kill them. This will be for the next 3 weeks! It will be worth it. We’re in love!

-“What’s the hardest part about having a dog?” they asked, their tone casual, like it was just another question.

I glanced at the worn leash hanging by the door, my chest tightening. “Letting them go,” I said quietly.

They frowned a little, waiting for me to explain. “They come into your life like they were always meant to be there,” I said, trying to find the words. “They make everything better—simpler, brighter. And you think it’s always going to be that way. But it’s not. One day, they’re gone, and you’re left with all the space they used to fill.”

They nodded, but I wasn’t sure they understood. “It’s not the messes they made or the routines you have to let go of,” I continued. “It’s the absence. You walk into the house, and it feels... wrong. The quiet is heavier. The mornings don’t feel the same without them nudging you awake.”

“So why do it?” they asked, their voice softer this time.

I sighed, glancing down at my hands. “Because the love they give you is worth every bit of the heartache. They teach you how to love without holding back, even when you know it’s going to hurt in the end. And you keep choosing that love because you know it’s one of the best things you’ll ever feel.”

Good morning to our Shaggy family! We are back from leave and starting back on Monday.
A few changes this year….
I am no longer working Tuesdays or Wednesdays and only 1 Saturday a month.
This could mean longer wait times than usual if you don’t book in after your groom.
I understand this may not suit everyone and I have moved quite a few dogs on to other groomers. If you feel another more flexible groomer would suit your needs better, please tell me and I’ll give you the numbers. I have one great groomer who is mobile and has taken quite a few of my bigger dogs on. There is also 3 home groomers in DC to that are lovely.
Depending on my tired old back and arms, I may have to cut out another day later in the year, 11 years of physical work is starting to take its toll…..🥲
Thank you everyone for your understanding, this has been a really hard but necessary decision….
