It has finally arrived

KONA will now be known as

CIB NZCH Drakon The Master Of The Game

making him the FIRST JAPANESE SPITZ IN NEW ZEALAND to qualify for this title

He did it in style by also taking 2 x
Best of Group 5 wins along the way and his last win was as a Veteran

Our thanks go to the judges who recognised his quality, to Ashleigh Milford who has shown him from a baby and to his breeder Anya Trainor

We have enjoyed the experience and wish him a long and happy retirement
This acalade will always be his alone

We attended 4 Open Shows run by 4 different clubs in Dunedin this past weekend. Although entries were disappointing there were still some very nice dogs exhibited

One at the Waikouaiti Kennel Assn

And one at Southern Ladies Kennel Assn under judge Lydia Jin both from Christchurch

This boy only started his show career as a Junior and is showing promise in Intermediate

ON TRIAL

TALBOTHIGHTS KENNELS has a 4 1/2 year old bitch for rehoming

MARLEY is 41/2 years old She is not the most active dog but one who would enjoy going to a home with older family members where there is short walks to the shops then home for a rest on the couch She has been a brood bitch so has not had a lot of socialisation and can get a bit anxious around strangers until she gets to know them usually with a food treat The new owner will need to keep her weight in check lol Also she has not been around children but again I don't think this will be a problem as long as they are respectful of her space Cats have never been part of her life
She is a very loyal girl and bonds strongly Loves attention. She is a typical spitz and can bark if not corrected
She is of course a purebred registered Japanese Spitz, fully vaccinated microchipped and will be desexed prior to rehoming. She will go on a months trial so homes in the lower South Island would be preferred
Cost is the desexing cost

HAYLEY is 3 1/2 years old She is an active dog who would enjoy going to a home where there is lots of adventures She (I think) could be a possibility of enjoying agility or associated sports. She has not had a lot of socialisation but has competed to Champion in the show ring so has had exposure to other dogs and people Also she has not been around children but again I don't think this will be a problem Cats could be a learning event lol

She is a loyal girl and bonds strongly Loves her nightly cuddle with her dad She is a typical spitz and can bark if not corrected

Normally we are away to shows in Christchurch over Easter (weather wise I’m glad we weren’t) but this year we were enjoying playing midwife
Kimberly and Hayley are both first time mums and taking the job very seriously

is settling into the show scene now
He has had limited ring experience but today at the Southland Kennel Assn Double Ribbon Parade he did enough to impress both judges and took out two BEST ON PARADES

Lovely to see this boy mature. He has a lot of Kona in him and an awesome nature. He finishes the afternoon with Jesse on the lead in Junior Handler

Well that’s a rap. 31/12/24 was the last day for the Dogzonline competition where all breeds in New Zealand competing on the show circuit can record their placings
The results were announced today and KONA
Ch Drakon the Master of the Game has again won the

No 1 Japanese Spitz
Show Dog of the Year
New Zealand
Dogzonline Pointscore 2024

With limited showing this past year
his success in the North Island
helped him achieve this award

Over his 8 years competing for this title he has won 7 times starting in 2016. 17. 18, 19, (20 was cancelled due to Covid) 21, (22 we did very little showing due to my handlers pregnant state) 23 and his final year 24
There are other competitions incorporated as well where we compete in our Group 7 with other breeds then as a whole with all 7 Groups. He has featured in the top 50 nationwide several times

Time to stand down and let another dog take the glory

In another life I will do the running and you can wash and groom lol
