Hello!!
Apologies for the lack of activity on socials the last few weeks.
The boys and I, along with our 3 beautiful mares, have just returned home from our first ever PC Camp!
We are so proud of how the boys and their horses handled the week, especially considering they've never ridden more than 2 days in a row, let alone an intensive 7 day camp! Safe to say, the four of them were exhausted & very glad to get home.
Once I get through the 10,000 loads of washing and unpack the various vehicles, I hope to return to a bit of normalcy!
There is a lot going on at home that Im excited to share in due course. Meanwhile, foals are due soon, and we have some new puppies...so spring is definitely here.
We are also keen to continue more filming for WDTO!

WORKING DOG TRAINING ONLINE
Our latest video is the first of a couple of 'catch up videos' to show our latest batch of young dogs, and where they are at. We have some four month old siblings, a six month old, and some 11 month old siblings.
They have been getting the bare minimum of training over recent months, just enough to keep them mentally and physically stimulated and developing. These videos will be great 'proof' that as long as you start with good genetics, it isn't so much about the quantity of training as the quality.
This video includes Craiglea Barbie and Craiglea Pepper, four months old.
The next couple of videos will include Craiglea Val, six months, and Craiglea Reba and Craiglea Patsy, 11 months.
To watch the full video, check out WORKING DOG TRAINING ONLINE!
LOT 307 CRAIGLEA CHILLI (AI)
Craiglea Chilli (AI). 8-month-old Border Collie female.
Chilli was the runt of the litter. She is still very small for her age. There is nothing wrong with her temperament and working ability. Chilli is simply too small to stay in our breeding program. Check the photos to gauge her size compared to her litter sisters. Please make contact if you are interested, but her size is a concern for you.
AI pup by Hot Sauce USA, out of Craiglea Abby (AI).
Chilli's sire, Hot Sauce is owned by Tony Jetensky, Nebraska USA. Sauce is a smooth coated, Border Collie male. He is an outstanding cow dog, that works all classes of livestock, and has trialled successfully. He also has progeny working very well in the USA. There are many excellent videos of Sauce working on Facebook. Search for J Crazy J Stockdogs and Tony Jetensky. We are very excited to see what Sauce can do as an outcross sire in Australia.
Chilli’s dam, Craiglea Abby is 4 years old, and is a very reliable work dog. She has spent her life working cattle and sheep, including cows and calves. Abby has won and placed in multiple cattle dog trials. She won her 3-year-old QLD Cattle Dog Derby, and the Cow Dog Challenge at the Australian Championships at Scone in 2023. She recently won the Open cattle dog trial at Coolah. She is stylish, bites both ends, is very pushy but trainable. Silent worker.
Chilli has been started on sheep. She is super keen, and very stylish. She leads and ties up, and is developing a stop and call off.
She is traditionally marked, black and white, smooth coat.
Chilli has loads of potential as a worker. We really like her keeness and working style. She is only for sale due to her lack of size. We have retained two litter sisters.
All enquiries welcome and encouraged!
LOT 306 CRAIGLEA BILL
Craiglea Bill. 9-month-old Border Collie male.
By Craiglea Mack (AI), out of Craiglea Ruby. Double cross of Swan Spud, an outstanding all-round work and trial dog. 2 x Australian Working Cattle Dog of the Year, among many other achievements.
Bill’s sire, Craiglea Mack is currently my main dog, he is 3 years old. An excellent dog on cattle, sheep and goats, particularly cows and calves. His calm, clean, nose bite is outstanding. Mack has done some cattle dog trialling. He placed at his 2-year-old QLD Cattle Dog Futurity, and has had some solid placings from limited starts. He was recently 3rd in the Sire Shootout at the Australian Cattle Dog Championships at Casino, and also made the Open final. He seems to run a full course everywhere we go, even if the cattle are tough.
Bill’s dam, Craiglea Ruby is 7 years old, and been a very reliable work dog. She has spent her life working cattle and sheep, including cows and calves. She has won and placed in many cattle dog trials. She recently represented QLD in the winning State of Origin team at the Australian Cattle Dog Championships at Casino. She bites the nose and is very trainable. We have successfully sold several of Ruby’s progeny via auction, including Craiglea Ross (AI), who is a ¾ brother to Bill. Ross topped the 2024 AWSDA Winter sale as a yearling. Ruby’s dam, Bells Willow also topped the 2022 Geurie sale as a 6-year-old.
Bill has a lovely, friendly temperament. He wants to be your mate. Smooth coat, traditionally marked, black and white.
Bill has been started on sheep and had a couple of works on young, dry cattle. He hasn’t done any practical work yet. He is very keen, and has progressed easily with very little formal training. Bill has a stop, and his call off is improving. He has ridden a side by side a couple of times. Can jump in his kennel. We have retained a litter sister for further training.
Bill is a genuine prospect. He is not a fully trained working dog. He has had a great start to life, and has the pedigree and foundation to be a great working dog. He will require training and opportunity to reach his potential.
All enquiries welcome and encouraged!

Our Story
G'day. We are Jamie and Mani Sturrock. We own and operate Craiglea Working Dogs and Stock Horses, a family business based near Drillham, on the Western Darling Downs of Queensland, Australia.
We breed and train quality Border Collie working dogs and performance horses for work and competition. We offer working dog pups, started working dogs and performance horses for sale. We also conduct working dog schools and lessons year round, at our place or yours.
We manage a corporate owned beef cattle operation, running 2,000 cattle across several grazing properties. We run Wagyu and Angus breeder cattle, growing our progeny out to heavy feeder weight. We also trade cattle according to the season, and run a small flock of Dorper cross sheep.
We use our working dogs and horses every day to make our living. We also enjoy competing on weekends in cattle dog trialling, sheep dog trialling, campdrafting, polocrosse, stockman's challenges and kid’s events to name a few. We have two young sons, Jack and Toby, who are very involved in our business, raising pups and riding their horses.
We are very proud of our family, our business and our animals, and get a lot of satisfaction out of sharing quality genetics, training methods and stockmanship with others.
Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in our working dogs or horses. Or visit www.craiglea.com.au for more information.
