GOOD MANNERS GRADUATION: Six weeks of lessons with a few postponements on the way, gave us extra time to practise skills, coming back for revision and refinement. For the two young adolescents and one rescue dog in this class, the results were outstanding! More settled and focussed and able to remain calm in the presence of the other dogs were some of the big changes during the course. Also worth mentioning is each handler’s increased ability to choose appropriate strategies to guide their dogs in challenging situations. Well done to all of you and as they say in all school reports, “Keep up the good work!”

Over the years we have dealt with a number of very damaged dogs (physically, emotionally and socially) from this highly unethical “breeder”. Now that the word really is out, I’m passionate about sharing all warnings about this person who dares to call herself a “breeder”. 😡

The blonde Labrador is Luna. Today was her 6th lesson in our good manners class. In Week 1 she could not even look at the other dogs in class without barking, shrieking and lunging. Her human assured me that Luna meant no harm and just wanted to say hello. Unfortunately letting an over-aroused dog on a lead into the personal space of another dog could end in disaster. The other point is that the over-aroused dog will continue to engage in the out of control behaviour if it leads to them being able to meet the other dog while they are out of control. After six weeks of classes, take a look at how much self-control Luna uses before she earns permission to meet Butter the black Labrador.

SALAMANDER PUPPY CLASS: Teaching our puppies to settle before they approach other puppies for some interaction. This is a valuable skill for life.

MY NAME IS ZEUS. I’m a German Shepherd and I’m three years old. I’ve been practising reactive behaviour towards other dogs for quite some time now. This behaviour is exacerbated by the fact that I’m highly distracted by the environment outside the house. My family have decided to do some 1:1 lessons with the goal of enrolling in a specialised class to help dogs like me relax and become “neutral” to having other dogs around. Can’t wait to reach my “non-reactive” potential.

Huge shoutout to our newest Puppy Class graduates from East Maitland!
Over the past 4 weeks, you and your pups have learned, grown, and totally crushed the foundations, from basic skills to better focus, all wrapped up in plenty of tail wags and fun.

It’s been such a joy to watch your progress, and we’re so excited to see what’s next as you move into Good Manners Level 1.

Great job, everyone give those pups a high paw!
