You are the expert in your horse business – so own it. 💪🐴

When a client asks “What are you doing there?” or “Why does my horse need that?” – don’t brush it off. These are golden moments. ✨

They’re not looking for a science lecture (and they definitely don’t need all the Latin names you worked hard to memorise 😂).

What they do want is to understand how what you’re doing is helping their horse feel or perform better.

These little conversations build trust, deepen the relationship, and show just how much value you bring. Plus, the more your clients understand, the better care they can provide between visits.

So don’t be shy about sharing your knowledge.

Every time you do, everyone learns – and the horses benefit most of all. 💛

If you work with horses—you’re already elite.

And no, that’s not arrogance. (Let’s be real—arrogance around horses just gets you hurt.)

I work with so many equine business owners who quietly battle imposter syndrome—they’re afraid to show up, promote themselves, or charge what they’re worth.

But here’s a truth I want you to hear loud and clear:

👉 No one just “falls into” a horse career.
You don’t wake up one day and randomly decide to shovel p**p and work 12-hour days in the freezing cold.

You’re here because this is your lifelong obsession.
You’ve been learning—formally or not—since you were that horse-crazy kid drawing ponies in the margins of your schoolbooks.
And if your family didn’t come from horses? They probably thought you were a little wild. (You were. In the best way.)

Here’s a perspective shift:
If someone becomes a surgeon, they’ll train for 12–15 years. That includes around 4–6 years at university, followed by internships and hands-on training.

If you started riding and learning about horses at age 10 (and let’s be honest, many of us started even earlier), by the time you’re 25—you’ve put in just as much time learning a skill that requires precision, trust, and lifelong study.

Stop trading your time for money in your equine business. ⏳💸🐴

This is one of the biggest mindset shifts that can change everything for you:

👉 You are not selling your time — you’re selling your skills and results.

Let me say that again for the people in the back:
You are being paid for your expertise, not the number of minutes on the clock.

When someone asks me how long a bodywork session takes, my answer is always the same:
⏱️ As long as it takes.
And when asked the price? It’s the same regardless of whether I spend 15 minutes or 60. Why? Because people are paying for outcomes — not how long I stand beside a horse.

There are so many variables in every session:
• The horse’s temperament and readiness
• The complexity of the issue
• How quickly or slowly results come
• Your own skill and experience

Over the past 25 years, I’ve done well over 1,000 sessions each year. Of course, in the beginning, it took me longer — I was still building my skills and confidence (both in horsemanship and in business!). But even then, it was never about the clock. It was about the result.

Let’s break it down:

🧠 Trainers: Don’t promise an hour a day, 6 days a week. Instead, communicate that you’ll work with the horse based on what it needs to learn and progress. Some horses need shorter, more frequent sessions. Others might benefit from longer blocks with more downtime. Set expectations based on the horse, not a stopwatch.

🤲 Bodyworkers & Similar: Like I said — people are paying for your skill, not your schedule. Your timing will naturally vary based on the horse and where you are in your professional journey. Sometimes that’s 15 minutes. Sometimes it’s closer to 60. Either way, the value is in the outcome.

🏇 Riding Instructors: I know — your clients book 45-minute or 1-hour lessons. But here’s the truth: they’re paying for what they learn, not how long they sit in the saddle. If the rider (or horse!) can’t stay physically or mentally present beyond 25 minutes, it’s OK to call it. You’re the expert. Shape your sessions around specific goals and outcomes, not arbitrary time slots.

🔑 This way of thinking — selling time for money — is outdated if you’re in the business of transformation. Whether you’re helping horses move better, riders gain confidence, or horses and humans learn together…

You are the professional. You bring the value. You create the results.

Time is just the container. Your skills are the product.

👏 It’s time to start valuing yourself like the equine business badass you are.
