We've been contacted by a lovely lady who is supporting us in our efforts to help more greyhounds.

Thank you Jessica ❤️❤️

Hey folks we are in need of some drums that we're using to collect recyclable bottles for the rewards recycling program.

Using plastic garbage bags seems to defeat the purpose of recycling plus they're not strong enough for bottles.

If anyone has half a dozen spare that would be amazing!

Well we're not one for posting about political stuff on here... so we will just share this photo of Lenny, who is very pleased with the recent news. He'd be even more pleased to be in his very new home though. If you would like your very own noodle nose lounge lizard, please adopt Lenny! He'd love you forever, tho you may need to get a bigger bed.

We had a huge day today!

It was a Leyland Brothers type of day travelling all over the countryside 😉

Today was Missy and Mo's muzzle free assessments at Spreyton
with the lovely Sarah from assessing them.

We love how Sarah puts them through their paces to make sure that our training with them has gotten them to the point that they can navigate their new lives as family members in a confident and safe way for them and their families.

Both Mo and Missy passed their assessment and proudly wore their new collars.

After that we headed off to drop in to see how young Jack was doing after the recent surgery on his hip, he is recovering well with lots of love and support.

After that we made our way over to meet the lovely Joanna in Shearwater at and also her lovely companion who met Mo who is the first greyhound that she has ever met.
Mo didn't disappoint and was a true gentleman ❤️

In true Leyland fashion we drove cross country via Exeter to the Tamar Valley to meet Mo's potential new family (which was a lovely scenic drive with a few comfort breaks along the way 😉)

After Mo wooing his new humans Missy and I made our farewells and headed home to NEAST HQ for dinner and bed after a long but rewarding day!!

Lily is a very sweet natured girl who will stick to you like glue once she knows and trusts you.

Lily came to us with bi lateral entropian which meant that she has spent her early life not being able to see very well.

She's now had surgery to correct this and had time for the ulcers on her eyes to heal.

So now that she can see clearly the world has opened up for her.

Which is pretty scary........

Lily will definitely need a family who is patient and will give her the time and space that she needs to gain confidence and to trust the new people in her life.

For this reason we say no small children and preferably teenagers who won't crowd or overwhelm her.

Lily shows no aggression to other dogs but we feel she needs a home of her own as she's still getting used to a world where she can see which can be overwhelming and frightening.

Once you do gain Lily's trust she is a bouncing bundle of love and affection.

If you have the right type of home for this beautiful girl make an enquiry today!

Our Story

North East Animal Sanctuary Tasmania is a non profit organization and registered charity (ABN 27131439521) that is privately run by a small group of like-minded animal lovers who have identified a gap in the animal welfare section within North East Tasmania, and have come together to rescue and re-home domestic pets in need.

NEAST is a No Kill organization We care for these animals in our own homes and NEAST HQ remains a place where we quarantine our animals before they get vaccinated and go into foster care. NEAST HQ also accommodates and cares for many of the animals that come in to the sanctuaries care.

We strive to educate owners and potential owners on animal health and maintenance and aim to reduce the number of unwanted litters within the area via education and a strict in house policy on neutering. Long term we would also like to implement programs that can help people keep their pets, whether it's to secure their yard better, training for their animal or to help them find the right help if they are in difficult family situations
