🌙 Group Classes 🌙

Tonight’s crew smashing it, as always! 🔥

We worked on loose leash walking, implied stays, and while there were a few big feelings about other dogs, everyone’s recovery was fantastic. 💪

To finish things off, we had some fun teaching spin, switch and sit pretty! 🐾✨

✨ BOOG ✨

I’m a tad obsessed with Mr Boog! He’s got the looks and the personality to match 😍🔥

Throughout our sessions, our focus was on building his engagement with his humans and teaching him to be more neutral to the world around him.

We worked on loose leash walking, recall, play, setting boundaries (especially through those fun teenage months 🤣), and helping him work through some over-excitement around dogs.

Mr Boog made some awesome progress and is developing into a lovely young dog. I can’t wait to see what he gets up to next! 🎉🐾

✨ CHANGES ARE COMING ✨

As of July 1st, there will be some updates to services and pricing at Complete K9 Training.

This past year has brought some huge milestones for CK9T, including becoming GST registered. While I’ve absorbed this additional cost for as long as possible, a small price increase will come into effect from July 1st.

At the same time, I’ve taken the opportunity to review and improve a number of services to ensure clients continue receiving the best possible support, education and value throughout their training journey.

My goal has always been to provide practical, effective training while helping dogs and their humans build stronger relationships and enjoy life together.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported CK9T. Whether you’ve attended a consultation, group class, training walk, workshop, or simply followed along online, your support allows this small business to continue growing and improving. 🧡

✨ TESS ✨

Gorgeous Miss Tess is such a sweetheart! 🧡

Her humans reached out because walks had become a bit of a challenge. Tess was pulling on the lead, occasionally reacting to dogs, and was completely disengaged from her humans out on walks.

Throughout our two sessions, we focused on giving Tess a new job on walks, building engagement so her humans became more important than the environment around her, incorporating play to provide an outlet, and working around my crew to help her work through some over excitement around other dogs. ✨

Miss Tess made some lovely progress during our time together, and I hope she’s continuing to smash it with her humans! 🐾🔥

Reactive dogs often create reactive humans.

When you’ve spent months or years managing big reactions, it’s completely normal to become hyper aware of every dog in the environment.

✨ You spot the dog before your dog does.

✨ You tighten the leash.

✨ Your shoulders creep up towards your ears.

✨ Your breathing changes.

✨ Your walking pace changes.

✨ You start scanning the environment looking for potential problems.

The challenge is that dogs are incredibly good at reading body language and changes in behaviour. Without meaning to, we often end up telling our dogs exactly where the other dog is before they’ve even noticed it themselves.

This is one of the reasons I place so much value on working around calm, neutral dogs who genuinely don’t care about your dog.

It’s not just about teaching your dog that other dogs aren’t a threat, a playmate or something to react to.

It’s also about teaching the human that they can breathe, relax, trust their dog and move through the environment without constantly anticipating the worst.

Confidence needs to be built at both ends of the leash.

Often, as the dog’s confidence grows, so does the handler’s. And as the handler becomes calmer and more predictable, the dog starts to follow suit.

✨ PENNY ✨

I’m a little bit obsessed with Miss Penny. 😍

She has the full package, a beautiful temperament, a fantastic personality, and an eagerness to work that is out of this world. 🔥🔥🔥

Penny is still a young dog, so our focus was on setting strong foundations and helping her develop into the best dog she can be.

We worked on:
➡️ Loose leash walking and general obedience to give her clarity and direction.
➡️ Bed work to help her learn how to switch off and relax.
➡️ Play and engagement to build value in her humans and strengthen their relationship.
➡️ Recall and working around other dogs, teaching Penny that dogs don’t automatically mean interaction and that checking in with her humans is always worthwhile.

Miss Penny is developing into a lovely young dog, and with her eagerness to learn, her future is looking very bright. 🔥

I can’t wait to see her next steps in Group Classes!
