💔 Two Lives Lost While Trying to Help 💔

Our hearts break for the families and friends of the two compassionate women who tragically lost their lives on Melbourne’s Hume Freeway after stopping to help an injured kangaroo. Their bravery and kindness will never be forgotten.

This devastating tragedy is a reminder of both the dangers on our roads and the love so many people carry for animals.

If you come across injured wildlife:

✨ Always contact emergency services or a wildlife rescue organisation first.
Stopping on a freeway or busy road is extremely dangerous. Please keep these emergency wildlife numbers saved in your phone (credit: Animals Australia):

If you do stop to assist wildlife:
⚠️ Only if it is safe to do so.
🚗 Park your car well off the road.
🔆 Switch on your hazard lights.
👕 Wear bright or reflective clothing.

And please remember: rescuing a joey is not as simple as removing them from the pouch. They are fragile and require specialist handling. Learn more here: 👉 https://www.kangaroosalive.org/blog/kangarooroadrescuekits

These women acted out of compassion, and we honour their memory by learning from this tragedy and ensuring we protect both animals and human lives in moments of crisis.

🌿 Please share this information. One day, it may help save a life.

Dental care
Best preventative care you can do for your pets teeth is daily brushing🦷🪥

1. Use a pet friendly toothbrush- this can be a baby toothbrush or even a finger toothbrush you can get from your local vet clinic or pet store
2. Use pet friendly toothpaste- human toothpaste can contain artificial sweeteners that are toxic for dogs. Instead , use pet friendly toothpaste that can be purchased from your vet clinic or local pet store. (Chicken or beef flavoured )
3. Start small– slowly introduce the toothbrush to your pet by letting them sniff it and become comfortable with it around their face. You can even add a little of their favourite treat to the toothbrush and let them lick it while you gently move the brush in a brushing motion. This helps create a positive association and makes the transition to using toothpaste much easier. Once your pet is comfortable start by trying to brush a tooth at a time. You may need to do sections at a time to start. This will help your pet get used to the feeling.

Brushing your pets teeth is not the only thing you can do at home to help keep your pets teeth and gums happy and shiny✨
🪥Swapping your pets biscuits to dental biscuits! Dental biscuits help break down the plaque and tartar that builds up on the teeth
🪥Swapping / introducing dental friendly treats and chews. Whimzee’s or Greenies
🪥Adding dental water additives into your pets.

Please call us if yiu would like more information or a dental check up with a nurse.🦷🐾

💙Does My Dog Have Arthritis?💙

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disease that affects animals as well as people. OA can be as painful for our dogs as it is for us. In healthy joints, a slippery tissue called cartilage cushions the ends of the bones in the joints. With OA, cartilage breaks down, causing pain and swelling. As OA gets worse, bone spurs can form, causing more pain and joint damage. When this happens, your dog may become less active or can show signs of stiffness when getting up. OA can be difficult to recognize and your dog may not show any signs. It’s important to talk to your vet about keeping your dog active and youthful. The earlier you start the better chance you have of bringing out the puppy inside of them 🐾
