🛑🛑🛑 MISSING FOSTER CAT 🛑🛑🛑

Tonight we've just found out that our foster cat Tinkerbell had escaped her foster home on Friday afternoon while her foster carer was away.

Sadly Tinkerbell slipped through a gap in the backdoor while her foster carer's housemate was not looking, and she has run off.

We are desperate to find Tinkerbell but realise that time is not on our side, given it has now been more than 48 hours since she was last seen. We will be doing all we can to find her however we need your help.

Her foster carer is very stressed about this situation so please no unhelpful comments in an already upsetting event.

If you live around the area of Val Court and the Herbert Street shops near Stud Road, Dandenong, please keep an eye out for our girl. Send us a message if you believe you have sighted her.

Tinkerbell is timid around new people and will likely be in hiding. She is street smart, having been rescued from a suburban backyard. She has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and we were not far off looking for a forever home for this girl.

🙏 Please SHARE this message to help us spread the word and bring Tinkerbell back home.

It was a big day here last Friday! Little Skye has now had all her vaccinations so is able to come for the occasional play date. Having little Buddy here for a few nights offered the perfect opportunity for some extra fun socialisation!

Please help if you can. Both dog and cat rescue groups rely on Starting Over Dog Rescue to help get animals at risk of euthanasia to safety. Some of my own wards have been delivered to me safely because of this rescue. It’s vital that they stay on the road. Many lives depend on it ❤️

Meet Skye ❤️
Skye (or as I like to call her, Baby Shark) is a vizsla pup who came to her family at 9 weeks old. I have been visiting her a cpl of days a week to help break up her day and help her adjust while her family are at work / school. She is a little firecracker who is still learning her doggy manners 🤣 Hopefully she can start coming to our house for puppy playcare soon, now she’s had her second vaccination 😊

I have recently started a casual reception job and so have less availability for pet minding. I am no longer offering dog walking and a bit restricted in days / times I can do home visits. I am still offering boarding in my home. If you are in need of a pet minder in the near future, please reach out asap to avoid disappointment

This is Arthur, who after about 5 mins with Havi and Dingus decided he’s a big dog in a little puppy body 🤣

Arthur loves coming here for puppy play care and his mum & dad love knowing he’s so happy and well cared for while they’re working.

I have limited day care spaces available through the week. Please get in touch if you have a little one needing company while you’re away through the day, or if you need boarding options while you’re away on holiday 🥰

This is Freya. She’s come to stay for a few days while her family move house. She has settled right in and is a total love bug ❤️
I love the tail quiver on cue 🤣
Her mum was able to save $30 on her booking by using a link that I’ll put in the comments. It’s only for those who are new to mad paws, so if you’ve not used the platform before please feel free to also use the link to save yourself some $$ 😻

A little update on King Vic 👑

As many of you know, Vic has been palliative for a while now due to renal issues. Recently he developed a skin irritation so I took him to see his vet and we ran some bloods as it had been a while since his last lot. The good news is that Vic is now over 4kg, which is the heaviest he’s been since he first arrived. The bad news is that he is now in stage 2-3 renal failure with only 25% of kidney working. There is no telling how long he has left. Perhaps it’s weeks or months, or we could still have years together. Thankfully he’s actually liking a bit of the renal food I’ve been getting for him so hopefully that helps 🙏

You may remember that Vic was a private rehome. His dad contacted the rescue and as I had been looking for a senior boy to join my little family, and Vic sounded as though he’d fit in, I arranged to have his chip transferred straight into my name. His dad really did love him and we’ve stayed in touch. I send him the occasional update and always leave the offer open for him and his young son to visit. His little boy is now 5 and still remembers and asks about Vic. So I sent him an update the other day and this time he asked to bring his little boy for a visit.

Damien and Ruben came to see Vic this morning. They didn’t stay long - I didn’t even have time to get pictures - but it did seem as though Vic recognised them 😊 He went straight up to his little brother (as did Marigold who loved having a kid to play with) and spent time chatting and getting love from his dad ❤️

Maintaining that connection with Vic’s first family has been really nice. I did of course give them the option, as sometimes people don’t want to look back, and it’s only very occasional contact, but it’s there nonetheless and I feel it’s important. I do the same thing with Havi’s foster carer as I know how much I love getting updates on former fosters and how often I think of all my babies who have moved on, wondering how they are.

I’m glad today happened. Here’s hoping Vic gets to have a few more visits 😻

I am not comfortable.
Vic is, therefore I cannot move.
I can’t angle myself properly to get a photo, but I’m kind of angled on my side with him on my leg, under my arm. It hurts to sit like this, but the old man is content and I must not move or he will tell me all about how I’m the worst guardian and don’t love him enough 🙄

After a very quiet month on the pet sitting front, the Easter week really took off!

Here are just some of the beautiful pets I took care of. In total I had 3 cats and 1 pup in my home, and did home visits for another 3 dogs and 9 cats. We had a mixture of highly social and very nervous, but a consensus of happy parents 😊

The highlights for me include:
⭐️ Little Luna Bug the JR puppy who stayed for 2 nights and kept us all on our toes 🤣
⭐️ Beautiful Goldie, the 3 legged Border Collie. I remember when she was first rescued from the deceased estate of a pet hoarder, so incredibly skinny and unwell. We really didn’t think she’d make it. Now she’s got a lovely full tummy and never stops smiling! Honestly, she brightens even the dullest day ❤️
⭐️ Piper the dachshund. She loved me when we first met but when her parents weren’t around she was very nervous. With gentle patience I was able to win her over again and we enjoyed some pats on my last visit 😊
⭐️ Xena the barn cat who’d supervise me whenever I came to check on them and give them naughty treats 🤣 She would talk to me with no voice and enjoyed pats on top of her perch.

Obviously I loved all of them - I can’t help myself 🤣

With the exception of occasional daycare and dog walking for a couple of pooches, I now have full availability to care for your pets. Please get in touch if I can help with home visits, puppy play (day) care, cat / small dog boarding or dog walking. You can find more details here: https://madpa.ws/TeaghanS

Vale Jag 💔
5/4/05 - 9/4/24

Jag Man stayed with me for almost 2 weeks over the New Year period, the first of my boarders since I started pet minding. A couple of days ago I received the very sad news that this beautiful boy had passed away peacefully.

Jag was sweet and gentle and a fighter. He had suffered a stroke a few years prior and had a few ailments which affected his health and mobility, but he didn’t let this stop him. He hobbled around, often in circles, and loved his outdoor time ”chasing” butterflies. He also really loved cuddles and kisses.

Importantly, Jag helped me to realise that I was still capable of caring for high needs cats with complex issues. I had been left traumatised and exhausted after Garfie’s passing and while I knew I would provide him with excellent care, I wasn’t sure what kind of toll it would take on me. Instead of struggling I felt rejuvenated as some symptoms he was displaying before arrival began to improve. When Jag’s mum picked him up at the end of his stay he was 180g heavier with a taste for Royal Canin baby mousse 🤣 I started to reflect back on all the lives I’d saved during my time fostering and knew that one day I will feel ready to do it all again. I have Jag to thank for that.

Jag’s final day was very special, having spent it cuddling with his mum, Kay before passing peacefully in his sleep. I believe this was his way of letting her know how very much he loved her.

Sleep peacefully Jag Man. It was my privilege to know you ❤️

The Cat’s Mother, foster carer for little bundles of fluff

Hello and thanks for stopping by!

I am a foster carer for little bundles of fluff, otherwise known as kittens, in the South East Suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. Whilst I go by the name of “Aunty” to my fosterlings, and “Mum” to my own feline babies, I couldn’t go past the in-joke between me and my work colleagues when naming this page!

I’ve created the page as a bit of fun so I can stop bombarding my Facebook friends with posts about my fosterlings, and to hopefully break the tedium of isolation during the days of COVID-19. Besides giving you all the opportunity to follow the journey of my little visitors, this page will hopefully raise awareness about the need to desex our pets and responsible pet ownership, and help to find my fosterlings loving forever families. I will also share posts from various rescues to help other pets find forever homes.

I am currently a foster carer for Meow Rescue. Please stop by their page and give them some love.
