🚨 Common Pet Emergencies You Should Know 🚨
Some pet emergencies can escalate quickly—knowing the signs could save your pet’s life.

Here are just a few conditions that every pet owner should be aware of:
🐱 Male cats: Urethral obstruction (can be fatal if they can’t pee!)
🐶 Older large breed dogs: Hemangiosarcoma (often found on the spleen)
🐕‍🦺 Unspayed female dogs: Pyometra (a deadly uterine infection)
🐈 Older cats: Saddle thrombus/FATE (sudden hind limb paralysis)
🐾 Deep-chested dogs (like Great Danes): Bloat/GDV (a twisted stomach that requires immediate surgery)

🩺 If you notice any sudden changes in your pet’s behavior—especially pain, weakness, or distress—seek emergency care immediately.

I've been keeping a bit of a secret! I will be still taking calls but very limited services available as I learn all about caring for a whole new species 🤰👶

Pregnancy has treated me well, yesterday I worked with one of my fabulous vets Riverina Mobile Vet & Equine Dentistry undertaking 3 horse dentals, a pig dental and pedicure that put up quite the fight, 15 dog vaccines and 17 dog exams... the grand finale? Once home, discovering my pants were in this state... for who knows how long 🤷‍♀️ I can't see past my belly to know! 🤣

Oh my goodness how has another year flown by already?!
That means it is time for me to once more volunteer for ELVES - the Emergency Landing Veterinary Expert System- who look after Santa's sled pullers! Usually it's the reindeer, however this year due to weather conditions he has engaged his six white boomers for the Australian run!

My role with ELVES has me working alongside our amazing vets, supporting the reindeer rest stop and boomer changeover as they enter our airspace from New Zealand.

ELVES is a worldwide organisation, with Australia having several branches to cover our vast nation; this ensures that the sled pullers have professionals on standby at every point along their huge journey!

We are ready to attend any health issues on route, however the boomers have already undergone extremely stringent health checks prior to take off with a strong focus on lameness exams as I have mentioned in previous years. You will be unsurprised to know all passed with, as I like to say, "flying colours"!

I was lucky enough to be able to snap a quick selfie with one of the white fliers during our exam!

I've been very quiet on the social media front this year and it's because I have been keeping a little secret - I'm back at uni to further my veterinary studies! I am still working full time, working on the farm and also undertaking a CIV through TAFE so you probably won't hear much from me but I am still taking appointments with limited availability so don't hesitate to get in touch!

This was my absolute favourite case of the year; technically starting in 2022 it took a full 12 months of treatments to get to this point and to say I am stoked at the outcome is an understatement.

Doing daily bandage changes coupled with hydrotherapy and Low Level Laser Treatments, followed by rehab excersises, we were able to not only save a leg that for a while we really thought would end up being amputated, but get this patient back to working full days in the paddock 🐑🐕
