As a cat lover, I’m in so. many. cat groups - and wow, the AI kitten pics are getting wild. Today I saw one that was clearly made by AI… but people were falling for it. 😬
So let’s discuss!
These days, it’s easier than ever to fall in love with a photo online… especially when it’s a picture of a beautiful, fluffy, wide-eyed kitten. But with the rise of AI-generated images, it’s getting harder to tell the difference between a real kitten and one that was never born at all.
Scammers are now using realistic looking, computer-generated kitten photos to advertise litters that don’t exist. These images can look very convincing; cute poses, perfect lighting, and not a single whisker out of place. But if it feels too good to be true, it might be.
Here are a few tips to protect yourself when buying a kitten:
Look for real-life proof: Ask for photos and videos of the kitten interacting with people, playing, or with its littermates and mum. A reputable breeder will be happy to share updates as the kittens grow.
Ask questions: A trustworthy breeder should be able to tell you about their breeding practices, the kitten’s personality, health checks, and their socialisation.
Beware of too-perfect ads: If every single photo looks like a professional studio shot, and there’s no variation or casual snaps, it might be AI. Trust your gut! Real kittens live in real homes, not in flawless fantasy lands.
Always meet (or video call) before committing: If you can’t visit in person, arrange a FaceTime / video call to see the kitten in real time.
Don’t be rushed: Scammers often pressure buyers into quick payments “before someone else takes the kitten.” A trustworthy breeder will never do this.
At Quaydream, we’ll raise every kitten with love, care, and transparency. Every photo we share is of our real cats, living their best lives by the sea. And if you’re ever unsure about an ad you’ve seen, feel free to reach out; we’re happy to help guide you on what to look for in a reputable breeder.
