A massive congratulations to all of our friends who did well at nationals this weekend with their ragdolls. Not many people realise just how strict the ragdoll standard is and how difficult it is to breed a show quality one! A credit to all of your breeding programs 🐾
Ragdolls are one of the most technically demanding breeds to breed to standard. Unlike many breeds where colour is of lesser importance, Ragdolls must meet strict requirements for pattern, markings, eye colour, coat texture, body type, head shape and temperament. In a bi-colour, for example, even small deviations in the inverted white “V”, leg markings, or body pattern can affect quality. Breeders are effectively trying to combine multiple complex traits in a single cat, making the production of a truly outstanding Ragdoll far more challenging than many other breeds.
Thanks to Di Stokes for this fabulous photo of Fletcher ❤️
