Our Regular Client Toffee & His New Friend Tato Came for a Grooming Session! 🛁✂️🐾

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Toffee, our beloved regular client, along with Tato, a new furry friend from the same family, to Hero Paws Dog Grooming! 🥰🐶🐶

Both pups enjoyed a relaxing bath, a fresh haircut, and lots of cuddles. It was Tato’s first time with us, and he did amazing! 💕 We’re so happy to have him join the Hero Paws family.

Why Shaving Your Dog's Ear matted fur Requires Caution: Risks of Aural Hematomas ?

When your dog’s ear fur becomes severely matted, shaving may seem like the only solution. However, shaving this delicate area can lead to health complications, particularly a condition known as Aural Hematoma.

1.) Increased Head Shaking
After shaving matted fur, the exposed skin might feel unusual or irritated. This discomfort often causes dogs to shake their heads more frequently. The repetitive motion can rupture delicate blood vessels in the ear flap, increasing the risk of developing an Aural Hematoma—a painful swelling that may require medical attention or surgery.

2.) Skin Sensitivity and Damage
Severely matted fur can trap moisture and debris, causing the skin underneath to become fragile and prone to irritation. When shaving too close to this sensitive skin, microabrasions or small cuts can occur. This can make the area more prone to scratching or excessive head-shaking, further increasing the likelihood of complications like infections or hematomas.
