Watch me deshed my dog Marley's Summer coat.
A deshed involves:
π’ Wash - double shampoo & conditioner
π£ Dry - towel & blow dry (this part takes awhile, even with a high velocity dryer)
π‘ Brush - slicker, then comb/dematting tool (for knots), comb again
Double-coated dogs need to be deshed at least twice annually to remove their Summer/Winter coats.
Regular deshedding (every 2 months) helps remove undercoat, reduces shedding, keeps skin & coat healthy and the dog comfortable.
Note - If a dog is matted (clumps of fur that are unable to be brushed out), this area will need to be clipped/shaved prior to deshedding and will incur a fee.
A tidy up/trim of paws, legs and butt, as well as nail clipping is also recommended, and can be added onto a deshed.
