Today was Chester's day. 💛

This handsome boy came in a little nervous with the whole grooming process, and together we worked through it one step at a time.

I'll be honest though... Chester's coat beat me today.

Mum washes Chester every week, so his coat is incredibly clean and unbelievably silky, so silky that my clippers just didn't want to grab it the way they have with every other coat I have ever worked with. I changed clippers, blades and techniques, and while I never quite achieved the finish I was hoping for... Chester taught me something today.

Every dog is different. Every coat is different. And every challenging groom makes me a better groomer.

Could I look at these photos and point out a hundred things I'd love to improve? Absolutely.

So, today wasn't about perfection.

It was about a nervous little guy who trusted me enough to get through his groom with kindness, patience and all of his confidence intact.

So thank you, Chester.

You challenged me, you humbled me, and you taught me something I'll take into every groom from here on.

Cruisy ol' Ruben the Bordoodle was back today... and let's just say he was NOT into his groom!

After nursing a sore foot all week, this handsome guy wasn't taking any chances. Every time I reached for a leg, he'd whip it back or attempt what can only be described as a roundhouse kick worthy of the late, great Chuck!

The good news? His body looks like gorgeous, rich velvet, his tail is divine, and his b***y... chef's kiss!

His head and feet? Well... let's just say I'm choosing not to zoom in on those photos! Ever tried sc******ng a dog's face with razor-sharp scissors while supporting what felt like a 180kg head that desperately wanted to lie on the table? It's a team sport! 😂

We worked hard today, buddy, and while it wasn't perfect, it was kind, safe and done with your comfort in mind.

Thanks for keeping all my limbs attached, Ruben. I still adore you!

Marcy the Schoodle was back today... AKA The Vibration Machine!

This little girl literally vibrates from the moment she arrives. By about an hour into the groom, I start feeling like I've had one too many martinis!

Poor Marcy is full of anxiety around the grooming process. She'll bite at the clippers, the bath hose and the dryer... but never me. I know she's not being naughty, she's just doing her best to cope.

BUT... we unlocked a new level today... the sling! 🙌

Miss Marcy absolutely vibed with it (pun intended) and even let me clip her nails while she was in there. Huge win!

Looking at the finished photos, sure, there are a million little things I'd tweak if she'd stand still for more than a second. But grooming isn't always about perfection. Sometimes it's about getting the job done safely, kindly, and leaving your dog feeling more confident than when they arrived.

Today we achieved exactly that... and everyone left with their fingers, eyes and tongues intact!

Sweet Luna was in for her very first groom with me today, after a trial bath and blow dry earlier this year.

This beautiful girl was a little Nervous Nelly, and as Mum warned me... she's not the biggest fan of the whole grooming experience.

That said, there was one clear favourite... having her b***y scrubbed in the bath! The happy little noises coming from Miss Luna during that part were absolutely priceless.

Today took a little extra time, plenty of patience and lots of reassurance, but we got there in the end.

Thank you for trusting me, Luna girl. You were kind, gentle and beautiful every step of the way. I can't wait to see your confidence grow with each visit.

Lil Miss Minnie Moo was back on the table today... and what a little dreamboat she was!

From practically launching herself out of her Mumma's arms the moment she arrived to settling into her groom with a calmness I've never seen before, this tap-dancing princess made my heart so happy today.

Sure, there were still a few Minnie moments, but we unlocked even more little hacks to make her grooming experience calmer, happier and so much more enjoyable for both of us.

Progress doesn't always happen in giant leaps... sometimes it's built one visit, one win and one wag at a time.

So proud of you today, Minnie Moo!
