Up at midnight last night for a snake in Maleny.

An absolutely gorgeous Golden-crowned snake found in the bathroom.

My customer did extremely well sealing the door and it was right there waiting for me as I arrived.

As we are approaching Spring, the temperatures are increasing.. encouraging our slithery friends to become more active.

Golden-crowned snakes are nocturnal. They generally hide during the day and come out at night to hunt. They eat things like small lizards, frogs and blind snakes. They’re a mildly venomous species, reluctant to bite.

I love finding these guys, it made the early morning start so worth it!

Check out this beast of a Coastal Carpet Python I removed from a garden shed in Buderim.

Old girl was missing an eye, but that clearly wasn’t slowing her down from getting food.
Looks like she’s been eating all winter 🤣
(I’m just guessing it’s a she) haha I do that.

Breeding season is here, which means snakes are on the move. Males are out roaming, looking for females, and unfortunately their “road smarts” aren’t the best right now.

This photo is a sad one, and honestly I don’t like sharing it. But I think it’s important to show the reality, snakes are being hit by cars a lot more this time of year.

Please keep an eye out on the roads, especially at night or near bushland. Slowing down just a little could make the difference for our wildlife.

If you do accidentally hit something. Always call and let someone know. The animal may be able to be saved or even have a baby in its pouch. Check out the link below with heaps of numbers to call depending on the situation. I'm always happy to help too.

Beautiful brown snake I removed from a backyard yesterday.
The owners dog was the number one concern.
This snake had been spotted hanging around the same spot for a while and with a couple of close calls, I was asked to help.

Snake was sitting on a retaining wall that was head height, made for an interesting catch.
