Keep chocolate away from them please! 🍫 It is toxic to dogs (and cats) ☠️ the poisonous compound is concentrated in cocoa, the darker the chocolate, the higher the toxicity…Easter are Xmas are the 2 pick seasons for chocolate poisoning in 🐶 🐱

⚠️🍫Chocolate toxicity in dogs🍫⚠️

Maple the border collie came in yesterday as she had eaten 15 easter eggs including the foil😳

Dr Ben treated Maple by making her vomit the chocolate and foil before more of the toxin was absorbed.

Chocolate is toxic to dogs. There is a chemical in chocolate called theobromine, which is similar to caffeine and is highly poisonous to dogs.

Chocolate ingestion can result in vomiting, diarrhoea or even seizures. In severe cases chocolate toxicity can be fatal.

Thankfully Maples owner walked in on her eating the easter eggs and brought her straight in to see Dr Ben, Maple is now doing well🫶

👨‍⚕️If your dog has eaten chocolate please contact your local Sydney Animal Hospitals immediately for medical advice.
