Help us create a BETTER future for kids with cancer.

Did you know that 90 children are diagnosed with cancer each month in Australia?

As many as 90% of kids who survive will develop one or more chronic health conditions. We’ve got to find a better way to help them... That’s why we are taking action.

This September, the team at Shell Cove Vets have been logging 90km of movement each to help raise money for cancer treatments that are kinder, gentler and more effective.

Please support us by making a tax-deductible donation to The Kids’ Cancer Project.

Any contribution is greatly appreciated. Let's be better, to create a better future for kids with cancer!!!

Easter is a time where we celebrate hope, love and family and we would like to extend the happiest of Easters to our Shell Cove clients and community.

We love our Shell Cove family and we are thankful for our beautiful little slice of paradise down by the Marina. We are also thankful for meeting so many new clients this year already and for being able to offer vet care to so many adorable patients, like the darling Flora here (we think her nose is shaped like a ❤️).

Happy Easter & enjoy this gorgeous Autumn sunshine!

Luna is a 12 week old Bernese Mountain Dog who visited us for her vaccinations & an impromptu photoshoot 🙊

Don’t let the floof fool you, Bernese Mountain Dogs are a large breed and easily reach 50kg as adults!!!

Luckily Luna has a bit of growing to do, so for now she can sit on our table and get all the kisses and cuddles from our vets!!!

Today is International Women’s Day and we want to honour our beautiful patient Chloe.

This tiny bundle of cute has been through more in 3 months than most pets do in their lifetime.

She is one tough, brave and loveable puppy, who is one hell of a fighter and we love her so!!

So in honour of today we wanted to celebrate how far she has come and look forward to the next chapters of her life… one tiny tail wag at a time!!!

And what a day for it… but just remember on hot days like today our pets are just as susceptible to heat stroke as us.

Here are our top 10 tips to avoid heatstroke:

1. Never leave your pet in the car unattended (on any day)
2. Avoid the beach or pavement during 11-4pm paw pads are not shoes & can burn easily 🔥
3. Always provide access to shade and fresh water 💦
4. Place a damp towel in the freezer and then allow your pet to lay next to it
5. Avoid being active during the heat of the day
6. Use fans or the a/c to keep cool - even on humid days
7. Freeze an ice treat like beef or chicken broth - perfect cool snack!!
8. Buy a $10 kiddie pool - DIY dog pool
9. Know the signs of heatstroke - drooling, vomiting, diarrhoea, heavy panting, lethargy, brick red gums sleepiness, collapse
10. Have your local vets contact number handy 4216 6636 in case of emergency

We love it when our adorable patients stop by to say hello as part of their morning walk at the Cove!!

We are always here to greet them & give them a cuddle or a treat or two!! We want the clinic to be as warm and inviting for them as it would be at home. We also like to make that “moment” when you hand your pet over to us, as less stressful as possible for our furry friends parents.

The is such a beautiful place and we love seeing so many familiar faces out and about doing their errands, grabbing a coffee or visiting the local shops. Let’s continue to keep the pawsitive atmosphere alive!!

The face of courage, understanding, patience and trust.

The face of Mia.

Mia, like many of our canine friends, has battled through stubborn ear infections over the summer. That darn humidity!!!

And, as much as she would rather be swimming, she came into the Cove everyday for a week and put on such a brave face while the vets addressed her ear issues.

A week later she is out enjoying the last few weeks of summer. What a trooper !!!
