Winning Colours Farm Breeder of rare and various colour genetic pure Thoroughbreds registered to race. As a boutique stud, our emphasis is always on quality not quantity.

WINNING COLOURS FARM is situated in the picturesque town of Rockley which is a part of the Central Tablelands district of New South Wales, Australia. We neighbour the historic 'Dunns Plains' property which is a 6000 acre sheep and cattle station owned by Fairfax Publications. It is our passion and aim to produce fast, highly competitive performance thoroughbreds with the elusive frame overo gene.

And now dilute thoroughbreds that can win races and match it with their solid coloured counterparts. Breeding for colour is in synergy to the ultimate responsibility of breed improvement. Temperament and performance must always take precedence over breeding for colour alone. This philosophy is the basis of our breeding program and is reflected through our select stock. With this philosophy at the forefront, in 2007 we purchased the World class and performance bred coloured thoroughbred stallion, "PROFILE IN STYLE (USA)". The FIRST EVER frame overo thoroughbred in Australia and in fact the Southern Hemisphere. Frame thoroughbreds, although rare, are not new. Overo thoroughbreds were documented to have occurred as early as the 1700's. Left is a picture of an oil painting made in 1790 of racehorse "King Of Trumps" owned by King George III. It hangs in the Sudley ArtGallery in Liverpool, England. Then in 1993, the thoroughbred "Tri Chrome" was born (pictured right). DNA tests confirmed his purity and although never bred before his death the World knew once again that FRAME Overo thoroughbreds can and DO exist. With the Australian Stud Book recognising dilute thoroughbreds in 2009 we were delighted at the opportunity to finalise our purchase of the superior and most promising Cremello Thoroughbred stallion,"GLACIAL GOLD (USA)". Dilute thoroughbreds although extremely rare have long been in the breed and are documented in the earliest of recordings which go as far back as the 15th Century. With such quality individuals as the mainstay of our specialised breeding program, owners CAN have it all. That being - temperament, ability, type AND NOW..... COLOUR! Adding colour without compromise ads a new element to Thoroughbred breeding and certainly ads excitement to life. We hope you join us.

We have ONE mare left in foal to Glacial Gold (USA) to purchase for a palomino ASB foal this season. And she's a cracker - by MOONLARK (USA) and out of a BLACK TYPE imported mare who won $360KUSD SWISS CURRENT (USA).

And they are coming!!!... The second foal a spectacular bright palomino ASB TB c**t by Glacial Gold USA and out of my very own riding mare Safety Boots. Sold in-utero for obvious reasons and buyer has hit the jackpot. Strong, correct and once again what substance and quality for a few hours old. Must be something in the water at WCF !!!

Absolute congrats to purchaser and it was lucky he was purchased in-utero or he wouldn't be going anywhere. Might have to repeat this breeding.... I was going to put Safety Boots to my purebred Clydesdale this season but now i am not so sure. What a wonderful problem to have

FIRST FOAL OF THE SEASON...And it's a coloured (AAA Appaloosa) filly by SQUIRELL CREEK COOL FLAME.

This girl is so pretty with Flame's signature neat show type head and I can't believe the substance she is for just landed. Flame's foals are coming out more like his brothers (Flame had an unfortunate situation as a youngster, and he didn't grow to his genetics. I am so thankful we loved his temperament so much we decided to give him a go as these foals have got the lot!)

With all four legs black (bay) her blanket stands out so much! Now to pick a name. Oh and out of Glove And Stockings.

So in the middle of a Rockley winter,.the second coldest climate zone in Australia, we got sent this pic of a ASB TB weanling we did agistment for, for a few months. Only with one light winter canvas rug, no bib or neck rug; and this is what she looked like when she went back home and they took the rug off.

If they are fed right, wormed right this is what they should look like.

We make our own haylage of grasses and lucern and feed this out free access.

This is the result and no grain!
