It finally happened, I got to catch one of my favourite snakes 🐍 this beautiful Pale headed snake (hoplocephalus bitorquatus) dangerously venomous, came out behind a air conditioner unit last night in a little girls bedroom. I was called at 8pm and after dismantling nearly the whole unit I finally got him out around 12.15am. It was such a relief for the parents to have this snake out of the house.

Called to remove this Eastern brown (pseudonaja textilis) dangerously venomous, from under a house today. It tried its best to go behind the cupboard but with gentle persuasion I managed to get it safely. Very well behaved brown. 🐍

Let’s take a moment to remember this snake. Upon release it decided to use me as climbing point and have a look around. Once on the ground it moved over to a tree and started to climb.
Then a kookaburra took him out 😩, he got moving again to another tree and fell down, once composing itself it went onto another tree and the same kookaburra took it out again. After that it stayed on the ground and found a hiding spot.
Have to be one of the unluckiest snakes around. But he was beautiful. 😍 🐍

Another unfortunate call out today involving a Carpet Python (Morelia spilota) Non venomous, preying on a family pets. These situations are never easy for the owners, but I want to acknowledge and thank the family involved for handling the situation calmly and not harming the snake.

Carpet Pythons are opportunistic predators. They aren’t aggressive or malicious-they are simply trying yo survive and will take an easy meal if the opportunity presents itself. Unfortunately, unsecured pets can sometimes become that opportunity.

This is another important reminder for all pet owners to ensure small pets are kept on safe and secure enclosures, especially overnight. Solid roofing, secure wire mesh, locking doors, and removing easy access points can make a huge difference in preventing these incidents.

Buy securing our pets properly, we protect both our beloved animals and our native wildlife. There are no winners in these situations when fear or frustration leads to harm being done to snakes.

Education, prevention, and coexistence are always the best outcomes.

Wanted to share with you a video of a good friend of mine and fellow catcher Ben Avery from The Whitsundays. With his permission this is him catching and releasing a Scrub Python (simalia kinghorni) non venomous. These snakes aren’t local to my area and it will be a dream to see one in the wild someday. They can grow up to 5 metres and can inflict a nasty bite if handled incorrectly.
