Warning: Triggering Post. Sudden death of a beloved Toy Poodle yesterday. I need to alert you all as this is a product we use here, and one I have previously recommended, as many Breeders and Vets do, and it allegedly has caused the sudden loss of a beautiful little soul. A lovely friend of mine, and member of our much loved extended family here, lost her beloved 5 year old little girl yesterday. You will all know this little darlin' as treasured Huggiebear Eevee. It happened no more than 10 minutes after leaving the vet, where she had been talked into giving her little dog a Simparica Trio tablet (she only wanted a straight all-wormer), and her little girl, now being 2.4kg, had received the correct 2.5kg dose at the vet's office. So, not 10 minutes into the journey home, she heard funny breathing sounds and a yelp from the back seat of the car where her little girl was secured. She pulled over, saw what appeared to be a seizure had occurred, and raced to another vet nearby who worked on her for 20 minutes, but sadly, she passed. The vet who worked on little Eevee, apparently said, given the timing, it appeared to be a severe reaction to the Simparica Trio, and immediately commenced communication with the company. Eevee's mum and family, are beyond devastated. The vet has spoken to the Simparica Trio company. They have said that they can arrange an autopsy. She truly doesn't know what to do and is exploring her legal options, but wondering if this is likely successful, or futile with a long journey of heartache. Any thoughts, experience or advice is greatly appreciated. As you all understand, my friend's grief is leaving her numb. This little girl was her world. 💔😓 Now, I have given this medication to my own babies, granted at a reduced dose, as I am always alert to too much chemical in our furbabies systems, and I have never had an issue. However, I have been researching extensively since hearing of this horrendous loss, and have discovered some terrifying data that these products are allegedly causing seizures and neurological issues, even in large breed dogs. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't alert you all, and I will be reassessing what we use here in future. Always, be alert, be aware, and educate yourself at every opportunity, and seek advice and current information from your vet, alongside your own research. Death from tick bite is also devastating. Such a difficult position to make the correct decision. Our love, prayers and hearts go out to beautiful little Huggiebear Eevee and her lovely mum who is suffering terribly right now. 😞💔 DISCLAIMER: The information contained in this post is for informational purposes only and should not be considered as professional or legal advice.
