I thought i might do an introductory post today.
I'm Kristy, my self and my fiance Blake are the humans behind Kindly's cats. I also have 3 children.
I have worked in animal care for most of my adult life, moving in between vet nursing and technology and telco work in that time.
I started animal care in adelaide working in wildlife rescue but finding my passion in cat genetics. I worked multiple places, most recently before I moved back to telco, I worked with a local rescue with pregnant strays, orphaned kittens and ICU cases.
In 2024, my fiance and I first moved in to cat fancier, when we purchased our first purebred, a Mainecoon we named Nyx. At this time we already had 2 cats, Artemis, and Mister Kindly. But Nyx fit in beautifully. In the beginning of 2025, we had a particularly special ICU case come in, her name was Frejya, she was totally deaf, and partially blind. We had decided to keep her within the first new days of her coming into care and she lived with us until she passed away.
A few months after Freya passed Blake had surprised me by contacting Sandford Cats regarding a cinnamon kittens Jodi had available, originally i had said no, wanting to hold out for a boy, but the following night I dreamt about this kitten and rang Jodi the following day. This conversation would change the trajectory of our lives. We purchased Sandford Sass Queen, also known as Persephone, and Jodi and I have never stopped talking. Persephone is my soul kitty.
At the end of 2025, Mister Kindly was losing some weight, he wasn't eating and he had been bleeding internally. 3 days before Christmas, We made the decision to humanely euthanise him, he was the best cat. He helped me raise over 150 kittens on the eyre peninsula over his 6 years of life. He has left a gaping hole in my heart and I don't think I will ever get over losing him, im just learning to live with out him by my side.
During this time I had spoken to Jodi about a breeding pair, much to my shock she agreed. This week we will receive 2 beautiful cats from Jodi and we are forever grateful and thankful.
Working closely with Jodi we plan to start breeding and bring to you all, some amazing Oriental kittens.
