When it comes to enrichment, here are 5 things every dog owner should know:
✅ 1. Prep ahead!
Got a few spare minutes? Use them to prep a couple of Lickimats and pop them in the freezer. A little forward planning goes a long way!
✅ 2. Treat stash strategy
Keep a small stash of training treats in every room. It makes rewarding good behaviour quick, easy, and super effective.
✅ 3. Trust the process
You might not see the benefits of enrichment straight away, but allowing your dog to engage in natural, instinctive behaviours has a huge impact on their mental wellbeing.
✅ 4. Make training fun
Ditch the basics for a bit and try something new—teach a fun trick like "tidy up," introduce whistle work, or give scent games a go!
✅ 5. Keep it positive
Enrichment isn't about how long an activity lasts or how hard it is. It’s about joy and engagement. Start simple and build up. If your dog shows signs of frustration, reduce the difficulty or offer a little help.
We hope this helps you weave some daily enrichment into your dog’s routine. 💖
