✨ IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 2027 - THE NEXT CHAPTER FOR KANINE STUDIO ✨

For new and exisiting clients

From January 2027, Kanine Studio will be moving in a more specialised direction.

I will be moving away from comfort clips and shave-offs and dedicating my salon to beautifully maintained coats and tailored styling that allow me to use my creativity, experience and technical skills.

Moving forward, my focus will be on

Breed Standard & Breed-Specific Grooms
Style Grooms
Teddy bear
Asian Fusion
Coat & Skin Maintenance

I have invested an enormous amount into my education, travelling throughout Australia and internationally to learn from some incredible top groomers, as well as competing and receiving multiple awards and placements. I want Kanine Studio to reflect the groomer I’ve worked incredibly hard to become.

✂️ CURRENT COMFORT-CLIP CLIENTS

For my existing clients whose dogs currently receive a comfort clip or shave-off, you have until January 2027 to decide if you would like to transition into a style groom and regular salon schedule.

If you prefer a shorter shave-off with longer periods between grooming appointments, I completely respect that choice. From 2027, Kanine Studio simply won’t be the right salon for that particular grooming routine, and I encourage you to find a groomer whose service better aligns with what you’re looking for.

Six weeks will be the maximum interval I offer, and appointments beyond this timeframe will no longer be available.

🤍 A MAINTENANCE-FOCUSED SALON

From 2027, clients will need to commit to a 1-6 weekly salon schedule, with six weeks being the maximum interval between appointments. Depending on the individual dog, this may include blow wave and coat maintenance between styling appointments.

Regular visits also create a completely different grooming experience for the dog.

When grooming becomes part of their normal routine, dogs have the opportunity to become familiar with the salon, the equipment, the process and most importantly with me. This consistency can help build confidence and create a calmer, more predictable experience.

A LITTLE PAYMENT UPDATE 🤎

From 1 October, Kanine Studio will be moving to CASH ONLY payments.

With the changes to government regulations around card surcharges, I will no longer be able to pass these processing fees on. As a small business, these little costs really do add up. Rather than absorbing another business expense, I would much rather put that money back into the salon, the beautiful products I use, education and continuing to give your dogs the quality one-on-one care they deserve.

Unfortunately, bank transfers will also no longer be available. This one is a little disappointing to have to change, but I’ve had too many instances where payments aren’t made when promised. I’m then left waiting days and sometimes weeks for payment, or having to chase people up.

So from 1 October, all appointments will need to be paid in cash at the time of service. Please make sure you have cash with you when arriving for your appointment.

Alfie the Cavoodle has officially graduated from his Puppy Grooming Program and was ready for his very first big boy haircut at just 5 months old! 🎓✂️

He definitely kept me on my toes! Although he was a little excited for every step of his groom, he was still such a good boy and tried his very best. Building confidence through positive early grooming experiences helps set puppies up for a lifetime of stress-free grooming, a bit more work to be done but I’m so proud of how far Alfie has come.

It’s taken me a little while to write this post because I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do.

A few weeks ago, I found out that one of my beautiful long-time clients, Remi the Standard Poodle, had crossed the Rainbow Bridge. My heart was incredibly heavy then, and it still is. 💔

Remi was the very first Standard Poodle I ever groomed, and he’ll always hold a special place in my heart because of that. He truly was one of a kind. He was the definition of the perfect grooming dog - he’d walk in happy to see me, hop straight up on the table, stand like an absolute champion, and never complained, no matter how long his groom took. He made every appointment an absolute pleasure. Dogs like Remi don’t come along very often, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of his life.

Some people think a groomer is just there to wash and clip dogs, but for many of us, it’s so much more than that.

Every dog that walks through my door is treated as if they were my own. I get to know their personalities, their little quirks, what they love, and what they don’t. I celebrate their puppy days, watch them grow into seniors, and share so many moments with their families.

To Remi’s wonderful family, thank you for trusting me throughout the years. From my setup in West Perth, to Joondalup, and now to my very own salon, you’ve supported me every step of the way. Your loyalty and support have meant more to me than you’ll ever know.

When a dog passes, it’s not only their family who feels the loss. As groomers, we grieve too. We may only be one small part of their lives, but they become a very special part of ours. These beautiful souls leave paw prints on our hearts and are never forgotten.

Run free, sweet boy. Thank you for every cuddle, every tail wag, and every groom. You were so deeply loved, and I’ll always remember you. 🌈

DID YOU KNOW?

Grooming dogs Monday to Friday is what I do - but my passion for dogs doesn’t stop when the salon closes.

Outside of grooming, I’m actively involved in exhibiting dogs and have stepped into the show ring with a variety of breeds, including Miniature Poodles, Bichon Frise, Miniature Schnauzers, Chihuahuas, and even a Rottweiler.

I’ve travelled across Australia competing at prestigious events such as the Sydney Royal and Melbourne Royal, and have been fortunate to achieve many awards along the way. Exhibiting has given me an in-depth understanding of breed structure, temperament, movement, and mindset - knowledge built through real experience.

Working hands-on with multiple breeds has shaped the way I groom. I’m highly attuned to dog behaviour, stress signals, and individual needs, allowing me to tailor every groom to the dog in front of me, not just their coat type.

Dogs know when you get them. They’re incredibly intuitive, and they respond when they’re handled by someone who understands what they were bred to do. That trust and connection is what I bring into every groom, creating a calm, positive experience from start to finish.
