When I started this business, I knew there would be hard days — especially when it came to the welfare of the horses in our care. What I didn’t fully understand back then was just how much responsibility comes with being their voice and their advocate when they need it most.

Today we had to make one of those decisions and laid Red to rest through a planned euthanasia. It’s never a choice taken lightly, and it’s never easy, no matter how many years you spend around horses.

Our job isn’t just the good days in the paddock, the progress, or the happy moments. It’s also standing up for their welfare and giving them dignity when the time comes.

Rest in peace mate, your pain free now 🤍

Fly high little man 🕊️

Today we laid little Dusty to rest. He touched so many lives over his 33 years with us, including three family’s I know of. He was one of those ponies who had done everything; pony club, eventing, showing, trail riding ect. He was just incredible, a mother’s dream pony.

I promised him that when he came to us over 10+ years ago that I would give him the best retirement and he did 💕

I watched today as our little man had a short seizure and I knew it was time. In a bucket of food, he left us peacefully.

Rest In Peace Dust 🤍

On behalf of all of us here at Richardson Family Farm, we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you for supporting our small business throughout 2025.

This year has been a big one for us, including the exciting purchase of a new property and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support around us. We’re especially grateful to our agistees who have helped around the farm, lending a hand, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the strong sense of community we’re so proud of.

Our focus remains on growth, care, and compassion for our horses, and we’re thankful to share that journey with such supportive people.

A special thank you to our equine professionals this year - Mark Buckerfield & Ruth Walker, Nicks Farrier Service, Simon Laws, Evelyn Brereton, EqVeTs - the service you provide is incredible and we are so grateful for you all!
