Chaff Cutting

One of the harvest demonstrations you can see at our rally is chaff cutting. Oat sheaves are air dried before being processed into chaff to be fed to livestock.

In this video, our members are using a 1911 International Famous hit-and-miss 6 horsepower engine to power a pre-1920 Buncle and Son chaff cutter. The chaff cutter was made in North Melbourne Victoria and spent its working life in South Gippsland.

You may have seen a previous video on our page of our members harvesting the oats in preparation to run this display.

⭐ Vintage Tractor Pull 🚜

We couldn't have a rally without one of our favorite events, the tractor pull!

Each tractor is hitched up to a specially designed weighted sled, which it pulls down the track progressively getting more challenging.

It's not just about power 💪 it's also about driver skill and knowing your tractor; the engine, the optimum moment to change gears, it's weight distribution, how it handles different surfaces.

Don't forget to take some time to walk through our tractor display to see the incredible technological evolution which has led to the modern tractor we use for farming today.

Behind the Scenes

🌾Harvest Display Prep - 1920s Style🌾

Just prior to Christmas one of our member’s hosted an oat harvest day where we were also joined by some of our friends from the Baw Baw Old Engine & Auto Club.

These locally grown oats will be used to demonstrate the use of a variety of harvesting machines at our rally on 21-22 March 2026.

In this video, two of our members are demonstrating oat harvesting using an International Harvester 10-20 Titan (~1915) with towing a Massey Harris Sunshine reaper-binder which was originally designed to be a horse drawn implement.

Notice of Annual General Meeting

The Working Horse & Tractor Rally AGM will be held 8pm Wednesday 27th August 2025 at the Middle Pub, Korumburra.

New and perspective members are welcomed and encouraged to come along to meet our members. A great opportunity to join a club of vintage enthusiasts and be part of a fantastic annual community event.

Well we are officially one week post the rally!! A huge thank you to all of our fantastic exhibitors and spectators that came along to check it out, unfortunately Sundays weather didn’t quite cooperate, but living in farming communities and most of our members/exhibitors being farmers we could not be too mad about the rain, we know it’s been a big struggle for many with no rain for such a long time so we are grateful to have some rain for those who need it most. All that being said, we tried our best to get the exhibits running that we could, and hope that everyone comes back next year to experience what our rally is really like.

Once again huge thank you to all of our supporters, we loved having you! And see you all next year dates for 2026 rally are 14 & 15 March 2026, lock it in your calendars!
