Someone said I'm lucky to have puppies every day, and I agree. Being able to raise and handle pups under 8 weeks old is a privilege 🧡
Pups are now 4 weeks old, they’re getting used to eating solid food but eating with their entire bodies. We sponge bath each puppy four times a day after each meal. Whenever you hold a one you just can't help but kiss the pup’s nose. Their eye contact draws you in, it’s a beautiful quality of the cobberdog🤎🧡
At 4 weeks socialisation takes on another level since pups can see, hear, and walk. Time to go outside with grass and sun as pups are starting to self regulate their heat.
We're playing the radio with the footy to get the pups used to deep voices and to get them used to the sound and vibration of grooming, we hold the clippers against their feet and chest.

It's hard to believe this litter of pups will eat 40 kilos of Lyka by the end of 5 weeks 🐾 Lyka is a wholefood that's healthy and convenient in non plastic pouches that you can freeze. It's easy on the gut and nutritious for pups to wean on to.

First wobbly steps, taste of food and little eyes opening at three weeks 🧡🤎 It's also a milestone because our dam Little Oasis Rose has 10 pups and only 8 teats. As the breeder we have to manage the feeds five on five off to make sure all pups thrive. Author Kay White of a book on dog breeding states that ‘a runt is made and not born’. She meant that all pups get the same nutrition from their mother’s through an umbilical cord, but some are born naturally genetically smaller. It’s our job as breeders to make sure the smaller siblings don’t get pushed out of the way by the bigger ones so they continue to thrive and develop.

For me, it meant having to sleep in the nursery every night for three weeks. Some nights especially at the beginning, I don't get more than 30 minutes of sleep at a time. So it’s fair to say I'm looking forward to returning to my bed tonight 🧡
Our dam Rose is the real hero. She's such a beautiful and attentive mum. She's the real star 🥰I'm just backup plan. Sweet dreams. Goodnight.

We've had a pretty rainy couple of weeks. We have to make sure the nursery is toasty and consistently above 25 degrees for these winter litters. Underfloor heating was one of the best decisions, we can set the temperature and it doesn't dry out like air conditioning.
We have a lot of natural light in this nursery, which is great when pups are too young or it's too cold to go outside 🐾🧡🤎

A bigger litter than expected of 10 🧡🤎 We take only a few puppy requests per litter to make sure we can deliver pups to families. We say there is a 50:50 boy girl chance, but in reality each litter usually has more girls than boys or vice versa. We can't predict this until it happens. But I guess sometimes we just have to trust the process. Defying the odds, there are
10 pups, 5 girls and 5 boys 🐾🐾🧡

Wishing you a Merry Christmas 🎄🧡🤎
Little Oasis Jasmine is very loved by her guardian family and we're lucky to have such great homes for our Cobberdogs. We just love this photo, is not a filter or ai. We hope you met Santa too.

It’s week 7, and almost time for pups to go to their forever home. Familes are eagerly waiting and preparing pens, crates, puppy mats, brushes, harnesses, and food. We weaned our pups on Lyka Pet Food, a natural whole food lightly cooked for goodness and nutrition.
