🎅🎄2025 PIG DAY OUT!! 🥳🙌

For those of you who, like me, are sick of all the rain and gloomy weather, here's a little something that might cheer you up! At last we have a date for this year's PIG DAY OUT!! It's later in the year than usual as the reception hall at the venue is being renovated and everything out of there is being stored in the barn. Work is expected to go until 25th June so I've booked 27th July in the hope the barn will be free by then.

Also my original intention was to have two separate events - the Pig Day Out in May and Christmas in July in July (obviously 😝) so I thought why not combine the two and make it doubly awesome!!

As a result this year's PDO will have a Christmas theme with a Christmas tree and lots of decorations! And the Posh Piggy section of our Guinea Pig Judging Competition will have extra categories to include piggies in Christmas themed costumes 😀

Stay tuned for more info and in the meantime get working on those costumes as there's sure to be some tough competition 😄

Only one more day to the PIG DAY OUT!! We could have done with nicer weather but the event is held undercover so will go ahead as planned!

A reminder to bring cash as all stands except for the GCGPR products stand is cash only! Entry fee for the Guinea Pig Judging Comp is $2 per category so bring coins if you have any so we don't run out of change!!

I've been asked by quite a few people if you can come to the event even if you don't have guinea pigs. The answer is YES!! It's a fun day for EVERYONE and a great opportunity to get your piggy fix if you're a fan of these little critters but are unable to keep them as pets 😊

There is only one ENTRY GATE which is near the toilet block. You'll be greeted by our volunteer Daniel who will accept your entry fee (cash only) and provide each adult with a wristband and each child with a cute guinea pig stamp 🐹

It's going to be a FABULOUS day so don't be put off by grey skies and a bit of rain as once you're in the barn you'll forget all about the less than perfect weather and instead be completely captivated by all the piggy cuteness 😊😍

Not long now to the PIG DAY OUT!! For those wishing to enter their piggies in the POSH PIGGY category there's still time to work on those costumes! As you can see from a couple of pics from last year, that category has become very competitive with entrants going all out on their costumes and backdrops! If you prefer to keep it simple, just enter your piggies in one of the other categories where all they need to bring is their cuteness 😍

As well as the comp there'll be lots of small animal products to purchase, and nail clipping for a nominal fee. The sausage sizzle is back with a few added extras this year including barista style coffee, courtesy of our volunteer Kathrin 😊 Vegan sausages will again be available, plus oat or soy milk for your coffee. We're looking forward to the event and hope you are too!

Entry is $2 for each category. You can enter as many categories as you like. Payment is by cash only so don’t forget to bring notes and coins!

Certificates will be presented on stage after each category.

The competition will begin at 10am.

We don’t want any guinea pigs to suffer in the name of entertainment so for all those entering the Posh Piggy comp, costumes must be loose fitting and easy to put on and take off. Dress your piggy just prior to your category and remove costume as soon as the judging is finished.

Please supply a small mat or towel for your guinea pig to sit on at the competition table.

All guinea pigs must be brought to the event in a suitable secure carrier. Please bring a water bottle, food and hay so your piggies don’t get hungry and thirsty. Small playpens may be brought along with towels or fleece blankets to go on the floor. A hidey house or two is also a good addition. Don’t worry if you come without one as we’ll have lots of new and secondhand plastic domes for sale on the day, and new wooden tunnels.

Please don’t allow your guinea pigs to mix with other peoples’ piggies as this may result in fighting, or worse still - copulating!!

For the first time at any of our events we’ll be issuing all attendees with a wristband on payment of the entry fee. If attending as a family ($10 entry) all family members will receive one. This will not only tell us how many people have attended the event, it will also be helpful in making sure no-one enters the venue through any area other than the official entrance (as has often happened in the past). The official access area is near the toilet block. It will be well signed so you can’t miss it. For those not familiar with the venue Country Paradise Parklands, our event is held in the barn.

**Don’t forget, it’s cash only for the entry fee and also the sausage sizzle, nail clipping, raffles and comp registration entry fee ($2 per category).

Jenny Crewes Dees from White Lady Funerals has kindly donated a Judge’s Pocket trophy at each Pig Day Out since 2015! Jenny also gets to choose the lucky recipient 😊 She does this by introducing herself to as many piggies as she can during the latter part of the proceedings. So it pays to stick around until the comp judging ends as this is when Jenny announces the winner and presents the trophy 😊🏆

The Pig Day Out has been held annually since 2014. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps raise much needed funds for the rescue. It includes our popular Guinea Pig Judging Competition, sausage sizzle, raffles, nail clipping, children’s activiity table, plus stands selling small animal products. Admission is payable at the door. CASH ONLY!

It looks like being a lovely sunny day tomorrow - perfect weather for a Guinea Pig’s Day Out! Just a reminder the gates open at 8.30am so for everyone who’s entering the judging comp, please be there nice and early to register! And please bring CASH as entry fees to the event and for the comp are cash only. Same for the sausage sizzle and a couple of our guest stands. We’ll have plenty of change so $50 notes are no problem 😊

Entry to the event is at the barn (near the toilets).

Please bring your piggies in a suitable carrier with water, dry food/pellets, hay, veggies.

No other animal breeds will be admitted entry, no matter how cute they are 😁
