We are changing our procedures and have currently paused all sales on juvenile betta's in order to grow them out longer so we can grade them and price accordingly.
We love to offer you bargain priced fish and by selling very young but desirable types has been a way of doing this, we have always produced quality, healthier and longer lived fish than most imports although some people have been taking advantage of this recently and have been purchasing from us for $5-10 each and immediately re-selling online for $30-50 each, I saw one of our fish was recently sold online for $70 a few days after we sold it.
We have worked very hard on our genetics to stabilise the marble gene which is getting more stable with each generation producing strong fish that are resilient to illness.
We will always be cheaper than your lfs but in future will only offer wholesale prices when we have bulk and excess volumes of live fish and will still wholesale to those businesses that receive our pricelists via Bettafishaus.
Thanks for your support and understanding 🌿

Swim bladder disorders.
Ive been seeing so many posts lately with fish with swollen swim bladders with dubious advice given and I cant reply to every post, usually it's a secondary symptom from another issue.
Most common causes are:
* poor water quality.
* low temps or temperature swings.
* over feeding (organs pushing on the swim bladder)
* internal parasites- more common than you think.
* bacterial infection.

Check water quality and temperature first - should be 25-27°c or 78-80F.

Treatment:
1* check and maintain good water quality.
* fast for 3 days.
* lift temps to 27°c and if temperature drops at night then get a bigger heater.
* Add aquarium salt at a rate of up to 1 tablespoon per 35 litres/ 10 gallons.

If no change then treat for internal parasites. Almost every time I've seen betta's with worms they have a swollen swim bladder.

Treatment:
2* use a decent wormer like Cloverleaf Absolute+ or API general cure.

Treatment for bacterial infection:
3* Kanaplex is best for this, especially if the fish is still eating, soak food in kanaplex. Getting the fish to actually eat the kanaplex is 100 times more effective than just mixing it in the water.
It's easy to fix and fish will normally survive if treated early.
Pics show what to look for and where the swim bladder is located.
Cheers 🙂

2 day old galaxy koi betta's, , this is now the fifth generation of this line of genetics and I guess at this point with the careful linebreeding we have done we are ready to claim ownership of this as our own genetic line of betta fish created and maintained right here in Qld.
It's nice to not have all the frustrations that we used to get with breeding random imported fish.
A few bonuses with these genetics so far:
* High numbers of quality grade A fish.
* less than 10% cellophanes produced.
* early colour changes.
* desirable colour and pattern conformation.
* no major health issues.
* strong and healthy fish
* early maturing.
* large volume spawning.
* extremely fertile with high hatch rates.
* almost zero stunted or deformed fish.
🙂

Sometimes I get creative.
Nano tank display with hidden heater and filter, it should look epic when the Java moss grows out a bit 🙂

Every few months I start having doubts about if our infusoria cultures are actually working or not because I can't ever see anything in there 🙃
Footage is sped up.
Interesting that it looks like there's actually a current in that jar? Or maybe they all swim in the same direction?
This is a newly hatched betta's first food.

I often miss these super quick colour developments of our young marbled betta's but I got this one!
Same fish 4 days apart.
This is the progeny of our main galaxy koi line, probably the best genetics weve had, it's produced many A grade quality fish, they are red based genetics and we never get a large amount of clear finned cellophanes.
80% of the progeny are blue before pattern development.
