Dash
10yo | 14.3hh | Appaloosa x Arabian

Spunky, talented, and quiet – the ultimate competition mount searching for his forever home.
Standing at the perfect height of 14.3hh and aged 10 years, Dash is the unicorn that rarely becomes available. He is a much-loved horse looking for a new family due to a change in his owner's circumstances.

Dash is a pleasure to handle and easy to do everything with. He is up to date with dental care, hoof care, bodywork, and worming, and is ready to find his next partner.

Under Saddle:
Dash is a balanced, confident, and talented ride. He travels softly and supplely, responding beautifully to sensitive leg aids. He has comfortably competed at Level 2–3 Dressage and shows excellent trainability.
While he has had limited jumping experience, he approaches it with confidence as though he has been doing it his whole life. He is currently schooling around 70cm and has the potential to progress higher with the right rider and training.
Dash has experience in a variety of environments, including:
• Competition settings
• Cross-country schooling
• Indoor arenas
• Trail riding
• Road and bush riding

Trail Riding & Temperament:
Dash has been extensively exposed to trail riding and is reliable around highways, roadworks, dogs, wildlife, and general traffic. He has also been used as a babysitter and lead pony for young or inexperienced horses, handling the role exceptionally well—even with nervous horses crowding him from behind.
He is happy to lead or follow and is not prone to nasty or reactive spooks. He may occasionally have a look at something, but remains sensible and manageable.

Management:
As Dash has pink skin, he requires appropriate sun protection during high UV days to keep him comfortable and healthy.

Quirks:
• Can become a little impatient when tied up, though this is being worked on and is very manageable.
• Can be slightly concerned around water. He is never silly, and with patient handling (such as starting hosing at his feet and working upwards) he settles well.

Suitable Home:
Dash is a quiet and straightforward ride; however, he is not suited to a beginner rider. We are seeking a balanced rider with soft hands who will bring out the very best in him and continue his education and enjoyment.

Viewings and vet checks are welcome.

Videos available on request.

8yo Standardbred mare, Erin, enjoying some time out on the bush tracks during today’s training. 🌿🐴

One of my absolute favourite things to do with our Standardbreds that are struggling with balance is to get them out of the arena and let them work things out for themselves.

This track is one of my all-time favourites for exactly that reason. The sandy footing and gradual incline encourage these off-the-track horses to engage the correct muscles and find their canter naturally.

More often than not, we get the canter straight away. We give them a soft rein, get out of their way, and let them bowl along and enjoy themselves.

It seems to be one of their favourite parts of training, and honestly, it’s one of mine too. There’s nothing better than watching them gain confidence, find their balance, and discover that moving correctly can actually be fun.

Well, the time has come for Dash to start searching for his forever home. 🏡

Dash is a 10-year-old Appaloosa x Arabian gelding looking for a competitive and knowledgeable home to continue his journey and take him up the grades.

He is a well-travelled horse who has been exposed to competition environments and takes it all in his stride. A true “been there, done that” type, Dash is ready for someone to enjoy and further develop.

An official advertisement will be released this weekend, with viewings available from the 12th of June.

We will be extremely selective when choosing Dash’s new family, as finding the right home is our highest priority. If you would like to express your interest, please send us a message outlining your experience, riding goals, and what you are looking for in your next horse.

Serious enquiries only. ❤️

As a trainer, I am massive about continuing the journey with both my clients and their horses. 🤍

I always try my absolute best to help guide and support owners once their horses return home after training. Whether that’s through lessons, phone calls, messages, or regular check-ins, I want my clients to feel confident and supported every step of the way.

Owners invest so much time, money, and emotion into their horses, and I never want them to feel lost once they leave the farm. That’s why I encourage owners to come out and spend time at the property before their horse heads home, so they can learn, ask questions, and build confidence along the way.

I also offer ongoing support and catch-ups as much as possible and whenever I can fit them in, because to me, the journey doesn’t stop once training is complete — that’s often where the real work begins. 🌟

Lately at Gippsland Horse Training & Sales 🤌🏼

We have been extremely busy with 4 client horses in work, with another arriving over the weekend!Alongside that, balancing work at a local stable has actually been really nice — getting back to the basics again.

Grassdale Farm is also coming along nicely, with some exciting new facilities planned to begin over the next couple of months. We even made ourselves a DIY tie-up area for the winter months… fully under shelter 🙌🏼

The ongoing mission of keeping the property tidy continues, but with the trusted help of the heifers keeping the paddocks under control, it has honestly lifted a massive amount of weight off our shoulders.Oh and it’s also baby season for the mumma’s!! 🤍🐮

I also currently have two foster kittens, with one still looking for a home. If anyone may be interested, send me a message 🫣🙈

We’ve also decided to take a step back from school horse lessons for the time being, to give our horses a proper break from the ongoing riding lifestyle and allow them some well-deserved downtime 🤍

That’s pretty much the update!! Stay tuned for upcoming news.

While we may have been a little quiet on the socials lately, we are so excited to announce that Bach headed off to his new home today to begin his next chapter after racing. ❤️

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes getting him prepared and ready for his new adventure, and he has now found his forever home with an exciting future in endurance ahead of him.

I’m honestly blown away that I never had to officially advertise him. I truly believe in waiting for the perfect home to come along — and they absolutely did.

A massive thank you to the Kyle Marshall Racing crew for the opportunity and trust to retrain another special horse from the stables. It has been such a blessing to continue working alongside you all to help find each individual horse their forever loving homes.

We wish Ebony and Bach a lifetime of happiness, success, and fun together as a team. I’m so excited to follow along with the updates, and I just know you’re going to fall deeply in love with him the same way we have. ❤️

It’s been a little quieter around the farm lately, now the weather has started to bite ❄️

We’ve moved a few of the horses out to the back paddock for a well-deserved rest, while some cattle have been helping us clean up the paddocks and set us up nicely for winter.

With things slowing down a touch, we’re thinking of putting together an obstacle course for some training days — something to keep the horses engaged and their minds ticking over.

Stay tuned… 👀

I see so many mixed opinions on lunging/groundwork before riding… and honestly, I get both sides 👏🏼

So I wanted to share why I use it — not as a rule, but as a tool.

I’ll use Bandit as my example. He’s a 12yo Appaloosa gelding I originally broke in back in 2022. He had some time off and is now back in work for his lovely owners.

Right now, groundwork is a huge part of setting him up for a good ride.

For me, lunging isn’t about “getting the dirt out” — it’s about building structure and connection before I get on.

Bandit can be a bit of an overthinker (relatable 😅), so this time on the ground helps me:
• get his brain switched on
• bring his focus onto me
• soften his body and encourage relaxation
• create a conversation before adding the pressure of a rider

I pay close attention to the little things — flexion, softness through the body, that lick & chew… all signs he’s processing and settling.

So no, I’m not lunging because I’m worried about what might happen under saddle — I’m doing it to make things clearer, easier, and more positive for both of us.

At the end of the day, every horse is different. What works for one might not work for another — and that’s okay.

But this is what works for Bandit right now 🤍

Curious to hear — are you a groundwork before riding person, or do you prefer to get straight on?
