ZORRO - 3yo Husky X boy - Foster carer needed!
Zorro has been at the pound for a few weeks but they can't keep him forever and we have no room to take him, as is the case with all the other rescue groups that the pound has contacted.
He might not look much like a Husky, but Zorro is registered as a Husky X which is why we have been asked to help him.
He was surrendered due to his owners moving overseas, they say he is a Husky x Bulldog but we are not convinced, maybe a bit of Lab or even Akita?
He’s quite a big boy and he is very playful and quite boisterous, so he will need some training and to learn some manners.
Even if someone can foster another dog for us, that will free up a space for us to take Zorro into our care and give him the training he needs.
Here is what the lovely staff at the pound say about Zorro:

Hi I am Zorro. I am Siberian Husky x
My DOB is 01/09/2022.
I look like a big teddy bear, I love everything.
My new humans would need to play ball and like to go for walks.
I have been around school aged kids. I don’t mind cats.
Can you help with finding me a new home?

COLBY - 3 year old Husky boy
Colby is a petite Husky boy who came to us from a local pound where he had been surrendered due to his owner moving. He can be a bit aloof but he is gradually becoming more affectionate and trusting of his human pack.
He is quite a submissive fellow who enjoys some rough play with another dog, but he is also happy chilling out on his own.
Colby will need a secure yard with gates and fencing at least 6 foot high, and he would not be suited to a home with cats or other animals.
If you are interested in finding out more about Colby or would like to apply, please head to our website: www.arcticrescue.org.au/adopt/meet-the-dogs/
Colby is health check, desexed, vaccinated & wormed

Sparrow was part of a group of Huskies surrendered to a regional pound that have come into our care over a period of months as foster-carers and spaces became available.
After the recent loss of her beloved Mallie X Husky girl Kira, Lisa applied to foster to help her and her family try to fill the huge gap in their heart that Kira had left. They also have a Mallie boy, Shadow, who was missing his fur-companion, as well as a cat! So the likelihood of finding a perfect match was pretty slim, but luckily many of the dogs in this group had been around cats.
Sparrow was the next one needing a foster-carer that fitted the age and cat-friendly criteria. At first, she was very picky when it came to what food she would eat, but Lisa tried lots of options and now she will eat whatever Shadow eats. She was also a little too over enthusiastic around Shadow to start with so a bit of adjustment was needed there too, but now they are besties and even join together in a howl-along!
All in all, Sparrow has settled in well thanks to a dedicated family that persevered with every little challenge, addressing habits typical of a dog that has not had the best start to life.
Now Sparrow has landed on her feet she is no longer in foster care, she has become a "foster-fail" and is now a permanent part of the family. We are sure Kira is looking down on them with approval! 💕
Congratulations Sparrow, Lisa and her family, and I reckon calling out to Shadow and Sparrow at the same time, may be a bit of a tongue twister! 😄

MAYA - 4 year old female Husky
Beautiful Maya is finally in foster care with us after being at the Burwood RSPCA for 13 months - you heard it right, over a year!
We can't thank the wonderful team and kennel staff at the RSPCA for caring for Maya for all those months, in the hope that a place would eventually be found for her. And finally after we had a couple of successful adoptions, we then had room for Maya and could take her into our care.
For a dog that has been in a shelter for so long, Maya is a lovely, well-adjusted girl and she has settled quickly into her new digs with her own big yard. It is a reflection on the wonderful care she received at the RSPCA and the bond the staff had developed with her that they were all there on her last day at the shelter to say goodbye. 💕 Thank you RSPCA!
But Maya would still love to find her forever home, so if you are looking for a spunky Husky girl to join your family, please go to our website for more information about her: www.arcticrescue.org.au
