Just a heads up - there is an increased number of kennel cough going around. Much like a flu and a cough that sounds like a ‘honk’ . Mine are up to date with vaccinations and yet Millie has caught a mild case. When I asked the vet she said numbers are up. It’s an airborne disease and highly contagious, can also be transmitted via sharing (public) water bowls, food bowls and dogs sniffing poo and each other. Millie just has signs of shivering and needed an injection to bring her temperature down. Some require a course of antibiotics and some just need to ride it out, which can take 4-6 weeks. Best to see a Vet if your doggo seems unwell or shows any symptoms.

Thank you for all the messages of support and love for Our Dear Ruby Girl ♥️

Im sure some of you might be curious as to what happened with Ruby, especially for those who have one of our Dear Pups.

Ruby has had a benign lump
On her butt for two years which was carefully monitored, it couldn’t be operated on as it was in the “wrong area”. I was told it could turn cancerous if not operated on but also
Couldn’t be operated on. I did everything I could over that time to make it easier as it was incredibly itchy for her until I worked
Out how to get that under control. Cooked a special
Diet for her etc etc tried so many things to stop the itch (which I did manage) and she then coped very well.
Until … The last 3 weeks she lost a drastic amount of weight, looked anorexic, but ate four times as much as normal and even that wasn’t enough. All the symptoms
Of cancer. I knew what was awaiting her and made a promise to her and myself that i wasn’t going to let her suffer. When she started losing her bladder control
More and more suddenly this week, I made the incredibly difficult decision to let her go in peace and spare her the pain.

It started with an innocent bump that could have been so easily removed if it was pretty much anywhere else
On her little body but just happened to be in a place where it couldnt be removed. 😞

♥️Rest in peace my sweet girl ♥️

Why Make Homemade Chew Sticks?
Before we dive into the step-by-step process, it’s important to understand why homemade treats are superior to many store-bought options. Commercial dog treats often contain additives, preservatives, and artificial flavors that can be harmful to dogs over time. By making your own treats, you have control over every ingredient. You can ensure that your pup only gets high-quality, nutritious, and tasty snacks.

Ingredients for Apple & Zucchini Chew Sticks
The ingredients are simple, clean, and dog-friendly. Here's what you'll need:
• 1 medium zucchini, grated
• 1 medium apple, grated (core and seeds removed)
• 1 ½ cups oat flour (you can make your own by blending oats)
• ½ cup rolled oats
• 1 egg
• 2 tablespoons of unsweetened applesauce
• 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional, for added fiber and omega-3s)
• 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted)
• Pinch of cinnamon (optional, for added flavor)

1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare Ingredients
• Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
• Wash and grate the zucchini and apple. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

2. Mix the Ingredients Together
• In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated zucchini, grated apple, oat flour, rolled oats, egg, unsweetened applesauce, ground flaxseed (if using), melted coconut oil, and a pinch of cinnamon. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.
• The mixture should have a sticky, dough-like consistency. If it’s too wet, add a little more oat flour. If it’s too dry, add a small amount of applesauce.
3. Shape the Chew Sticks
• Place the dough onto a flat surface dusted lightly with oat flour. Roll out the dough to about ½-inch thickness.
• Cut the dough into chew stick shapes, or you can use cookie cutters for fun shapes. For a classic chew stick, rectangular strips about ½ inch wide and 4-6 inches long work great.

4. Bake the Chew Sticks
• Place the shaped chew sticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a bit of space between each.
• Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. For a crunchier texture, you can bake them for an additional 5-10 minutes, keeping a close eye on them to avoid burning.
5. Cool and Store
• Allow the chew sticks to cool completely on a wire rack before serving. This helps them firm up, providing your pup with a satisfying crunch.
• Store the chew sticks in an airtight container. They can be kept at room temperature for up to a week, or you can refrigerate or freeze them for extended shelf life.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
• Zucchini is great for hydration and fiber, but if your pup has a specific preference, you can swap it out for carrots or sweet potato.
• Apples offer a touch of sweetness and vitamins, but always ensure to remove the seeds, as they are toxic to dogs.
• Rolled Oats and Oat Flour make this recipe gluten-free and gentle on digestion.
• The ground flaxseed is optional but adds nutritional value, including fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
• Coconut oil is known for promoting a shiny coat and healthy skin.

Beef Broth Parsley Gummies for Dogs

Ingredients:
1 cup low-sodium beef broth (no onions or garlic)
2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
2 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder (about 2 packets)

Instructions:

1. In a small saucepan, warm the beef broth over low heat—do not boil.
2. Sprinkle the gelatin over the warm broth while whisking to dissolve fully.
3. Once smooth, stir in the chopped parsley.
4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds (disc or cube shapes work best).
5. Refrigerate for 2–3 hours until fully set.
6. Gently pop out of molds and store.

Storage:
Keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 7 days. Do not freeze, as texture may change.

Benefits:
Gelatin supports joint, skin, and gut health. Parsley freshens breath and provides vitamin K and antioxidants.

Calorie Information:
Approx. 5–8 calories per gummy (1-inch cube or disc size).

Would you like variations with chicken broth or mint for added freshness?
