Did you know eucalyptus can be toxic to cats? 🌿🐈‍⬛

Our patient Smokey found that out the hard way after getting a little too curious around some eucalyptus at home. Thankfully, Smokey is doing well, but it’s an important reminder that many common plants and essential oils can be harmful to our feline friends.

Cats are especially sensitive to eucalyptus, which can cause symptoms like drooling, vomiting, lethargy, and difficulty breathing if ingested or heavily inhaled.

If you’re ever unsure whether a plant, flower, or oil is pet-safe, give your vet a call before bringing it into your home. A little prevention goes a long way in keeping curious kitties safe 🤍

A few important reminders before admission day:
• Please bathe your dog the day before
• A normal dinner the night before is fine — no need for a large meal
• No food after their last meal or from 11:59 PM
• Water is okay on the morning of the procedure unless advised otherwise
• No treats, chews, or breakfast on the morning of surgery
• Please take your dog for a toilet walk before admission
• Follow any medication instructions provided by your vet
