Today we want to shine a light on one of our incredible volunteers and foster carers, Rachel, who once again reminded us just how lucky we are to have her as part of our Fin, Furred N Feathered Family! 💙🩵💙

When an emergency surrender request came through a few days ago, she didn't hesitate to offer to help! Not only did she jump in her car and complete a 3-hour round trip to ensure that this beautiful cat in need made it safely into our care, but she also put up her hand to foster her!

This is just one example of the countless ways she goes above and beyond for the rescue, helping animals and owners alike!
Whether it's transport runs, helping in a crisis, or taking care of the little things that keep everything moving, she is always there when we need her!

What makes her even more special is that so much of what she does happens quietly behind the scenes. Replying to surrender enquiries, posting adoption profiles, helping with adoptions, organising donations - you name it, she does it! She never seeks recognition or praise, yet her dedication, compassion, and willingness to help, make an enormous difference to the animals we save and the people who care for them.

From all of us, and from every animal whose life has been touched by your kindness, thank you! Your selflessness, generosity, and unwavering support do not go unnoticed. We are so grateful for everything you do. ❤️🐾

🐾 Melbourne, We Need Foster Carers Urgently!🐾

Right now, dogs and cats across Melbourne are waiting for a safe, loving place to stay while they recover, grow, or wait for their forever homes.
Animal rescue groups and shelters are facing an ongoing shortage of foster carers, and without foster homes, many vulnerable animals have nowhere to go.

🏡 Can you open your home temporarily? Even a few weeks can make a life-changing difference.
Fostering can help:
🐶 Puppies too young for adoption
🐱 Kittens needing extra care and socialisation
🐾 Animals recovering from illness or surgery
❤️ Pets who need a break from the stress of shelter life

We provide support, advice, and cover all veterinary expenses, as well as food, litter and supplies. All that's needed is a safe space, patience, and kindness, and lots of cuddles! We can even help with transport to/from vet appointments if needed!

If you've ever thought about fostering, now is the time! We are desperate for more people willing to help dogs and cats in need!

💙🩵Check out this strong sweet girl! 🩵💙

She was found on the side of the road—small, bleeding, and trembling after being hit by a car. Worried about her injuries, a caring member of the public rushed her to the emergency vet!

X-rays were performed to check the extent of her injuries, but what did they find? 6 additional skeletons in her abdomen! Initially she started going through the motions of self-aborting this pregnancy, but with love and care from the emergency vets, she miraculously stopped!

An ultrasound was later performed to check on the status of the kittens, and to their surprise, they all had healthy little heartbeats! Mumma let out the softest, bravest purr… she wasn’t ready to give up just yet, and knew her kittens weren’t ready either!

After a week of emergency care, she got discharged in to the care of our rescue, and has been getting lots of love and cuddles from her foster carers!

Despite everything she’s been through, this sweet mumma is fighting with everything she has. She’s eating, resting, and getting lots of cuddles and attention! Every day, she’s getting a little stronger. Her resilience is nothing short of incredible.

We’re doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and safe as she heals and prepares to bring her babies into the world. There are still vet bills, medication, and ongoing care ahead - she is booked for a follow up ultrasound tomorrow - but she’s already proven she’s worth every bit of effort!
