We’re a few days late to say it, but only because some days deserve a bit of quiet respect. 🌺

Now that ANZAC Day has passed, and after celebrating our brilliant crew during Veterinary Receptionist Week, it’s time to adjust the spotlight slightly for 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🐾

At Maleny Vet Services, we’re lucky enough to work alongside a group of vets who are, quite simply, 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁. Sometimes in a dramatic, save-the-day kind of way but 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 in the best way: calm, clever, compassionate and unshakably capable (even when things get a bit… chaotic).

𝗗𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗯, 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗲, 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱, 𝗔𝗺𝘆, 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿 show up every day ready for whatever walks, limps, stomps, flies or gets carried through the door. 🐶🐱🐮🐴🐔

They make the tough calls, have the honest chats, celebrate the wins and carry the hard moments without fuss. They’re part detective, part problem-solver, part steady hand... and occasionally something suspiciously close to a magician (they’ll deny it, but we’ve all seen things 👀). They care deeply about the animals and just as much about the people who love them. 💛

On ANZAC Day, we honour all who have served, sacrificed and endured the realities of war. We also recognise the animals who have stood alongside them - loyal, brave and often unsung.

Today we reflect with gratitude, respect and hope.

This week is 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, and Maleny Vets would like to take a moment to celebrate some wonderful humans!

They’re usually the first voice on the phone, the calm in the middle of a busy moment, the ones who can answer a question, juggle three things at once and still make you feel looked after.

𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 has recently returned from maternity leave and has stepped right back in like she never missed a beat - we’ve loved having her back. And 𝗞𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶, who joined us this month, has settled in so naturally it already feels like she’s always been here (in the best way!).

𝗝𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗻, our Admin Manager, is never far away either - keeping everything ticking along behind the scenes and appearing at just the right time when an extra pair of hands is needed out the front.

And of course, a shout out for 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 - the ultimate team players - who work side-by-side with reception every day, sharing their knowledge and jumping in to help wherever they can.

There’s a lot going on around the practice on any given day, but it’s this group who help make it feel a little easier, a little calmer and a lot more supported 💛

Please meet 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆.

On Sunday, Molly heard the words "𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘯" and thought… "𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘩 𝘯𝘢𝘩".

One quick back-turn later, and the bun was gone. Magic ✨

Thankfully, Molly's mum called us straight away (gold star move 👏), and we had Molly in clinic within the hour. A quick vomit-inducing injection and voilà, the hot cross bun made a reappearance not long after. Crisis averted.

We’re pleased to report Molly is doing just fine - just a little sorry for herself and hopefully reconsidering her career as a pastry thief.

Hot cross buns might seem harmless, but 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘀/𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀, so if your pet sneaks one, give us a call straight away - timing really matters in cases like this!

Best part of a home visit? The 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘇𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘀!!! 🐾💨

𝗟𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗺 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗗𝗿 𝗔𝗺𝘆 for his monthly Beransa injection… and we’re pretty sure he felt even better afterwards!

Hands up who can get 𝟭𝟬 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 to sit still for a group photo… not us 😂

Yesterday afternoon, gorgeous mum 𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮 🐶 accompanied her brood into Maleny Vets for their 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, bringing a whole lot of personality in very small, fluffy packages. There were brave ones, wiggly ones, "I’ll just sit in your lap thanks" ones… and a few who thought the whole thing was wildly exciting! Sahara and 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗼 (dad) have beautiful babies! 😍

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 - 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗺, 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Chief puppy handlers (and snugglers!) were 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗮, vet student 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 and 𝗗𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮, who handled the chaos beautifully. Safe to say… no one here was in a hurry for them to go home 💛

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗸 🐔✨

Today’s patient spotlight is the very lovely (and very brave) 𝘊𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘚𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 💛

Cotton Socks popped in to see us with quite the swollen cheek... not exactly the stunning symmetrical look she's usually known for. After a check-over, we booked her in for sinus surgery to sort things out properly.

In theatre, Dr David, Nurse Tayla and veterinary student Monique got to work, carefully opening and clearing out the affected sinus. Chickens are surprisingly intricate little creatures!

We’re happy to report everything went beautifully, and Cotton Socks recovered like an absolute pro. She was bright, comfortable and very much back to her usual self before heading home with some antibiotics, pain relief and (we suspect) a bit of extra loving attention 💕🏡

𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: Chicken sinuses are a series of interconnected, air-filled spaces that loop from the nose around the eyes, which is why a sinus issue can make one side of the face look quite dramatically swollen. Nature is pretty amazing 🐓
