There were a whole lot of "Naaaaaaaaaw!"s packed into one 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 on Wednesday. 🥹🐾

𝗗𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗻 and 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗶 popped in to check on beautiful mum Molly and her gorgeous puppies, and we're so happy to report that everyone is doing wonderfully. Mum is absolutely smashing it and the pups are feeding well, putting on weight, and somehow getting even more adorable every day. 💛

If you've been following their story, you'll notice each little one has a very special name. They're named after Mum and Dad, along with the Maleny Vets team who helped welcome them into the world a few nights ago. I'm not crying, you're crying! 🥹❤️

We feel incredibly lucky to have been part of their entry into the world, and we can't wait to watch these little personalities continue to grow.

🌙🐾 𝗔 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆'𝘀 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 🐾🌙

Last night was a big one for Molly the Cattle Dog (and some of our team)!

Molly delivered two beautiful puppies naturally, but when her labour stalled it became clear she needed an emergency caesarean section to safely deliver the rest of her litter.

𝗗𝗿 𝗔𝗺𝘆 headed in to perform surgery with support from 𝗗𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 and super-nurses 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗮 and 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗲, working well into the night (or perhaps we should say very early this morning!).

Six more puppies were delivered via caesarean. Sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, one puppy didn't survive.

We're so happy to report that Molly is doing well and is now busy looking after six gorgeous girls and one very sweet little boy. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💙

These moments remind us that veterinary medicine is such a team effort. From Molly's brilliant parents monitoring her through her initial labour and knowing when to call in the professionals, through to the surgery, newborn care and supporting mum afterwards, every person plays an important role in giving this little family the best possible start.

Congratulations, mama Molly and welcome to the world, little ones! 🐶💕

Around here, the sound of a ute often means one thing... lucerne!

As we were heading home, this gorgeous girl patiently stationed herself in front of the car, absolutely certain we were making off with the good stuff. No drama, just quietly waiting on her usual delivery of snacky-snacks.

Sorry, sweetheart... just a couple of humans and some not-delicious vet supplies in here today 💚🐄

⚠️ 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Open with care - one of the photos shows Benny's injury before surgery

Boy mums IYKYK... 🙈🐾

Poor little Benny came to see us last night after playtime with his doggo-bro got just a bit too enthusiastic. One moment they were having a great wrestle, the next Benny had a nasty tear to his cheek that needed urgent surgical repair.

The good news? Superstar surgeon, Dr Amy worked her magic, carefully stitching everything back together and restoring Benny's sweet smile to perfection. ✨

Benny was back to his bright, waggy self so quickly and was very happy to head home with a few stitches and strict instructions to keep the roughhousing on hold for a little while!

Dog play is fantastic exercise and enrichment, but even the bestest of good boys can accidentally get carried away. If your pet ever comes home with a wound you're unsure about, it's always worth getting it checked. Small-looking injuries can hide a lot more damage than you might expect (not to mention some nasty bacteria).

We're so pleased Benny is on the mend. We can't wait to see that handsome face back for his stitch removal. ❤️🐶

Poppy clearly didn't get the memo that weekends are for slothing... 🐾❤️

On Sunday evening, gorgeous Poppy's parents called our on-call vet, after what we suspect was an unfortunate encounter with a barbed wire fence. (Don't worry - we'll spare you the very graphic before photos!)

After a thorough clean-up, plenty of TLC and a row of staples, Dr Amy and Nurse Tayla sent Poppy home sporting a rather fetching pink bandage. 💖

The second photo was taken yesterday, less than 24 hours later at her wound check, which shows just how brilliantly she's healing. I should also point out that she has been an absolute superstar 💫 through it all.

We hope you're feeling much better soon, Poppy! 🐶💕

Side note. Accidents have a habit of happening at the most inconvenient times, which is why our team is here 7 days a week and have a vet on-call after hours for emergencies. Whether it's a Sunday evening, a public holiday or just unexpected timing, we're here when you need us ♾️

The good news is that the risk to the general public remains 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝘄, and most sick pet birds will have conditions completely unrelated to avian influenza. ❤️

I mean, SERIOUSLY?! Baby Walter is so freaking CUTE! 🐶 The little fella came into see us today for his second puppy vaccination 💉 and worming with Dr Hailee, while Nurse Tayla immediately administered cuddles - full service! Such a good boy and we can't wait to watch him grow 😍

🚨 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚...🚨

I (behind-the-scenes-Ed) have been an absolute slacker when it comes to formal introductions. Despite 𝗗𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 joining us back in December and 𝗗𝗿 𝗢𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿 arriving in January, I've somehow missed properly introducing them. In my defence, they both became instant members of the family so it's like they've been here forever. In my non-defence, it's now June so I'm really, really sorry guys 😅

So family, please meet two wonderful humans who have slotted in so seamlessly...

🐴🐱 𝗗𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮

Her experience spans small animals, horses (lots of horses!), other large animals and wildlife, giving her a wonderfully broad skillset and a genuine love for all creatures great and small. Clients quickly discover what we already know: she's thoughtful, thorough, compassionate and always willing to go the extra mile for her patients 💗.

🐄🐕 𝗗𝗿 𝗢𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿

Oscar hails from the UK but has spent the last few years working as a sought-after mixed-practice locum vet across Australia and New Zealand. In that time he's worked with everything from dairy cattle and pigs to emergency small animal cases, making him one of those (annoyingly 😜) competent people who is good at everything. Luckily, we think we've convinced him to stay with us long-term 🤞.

Together, India and Oscar bring an incredible depth of knowledge, practical skills and loads of genuine compassion to our team. More importantly, they're both kind, approachable people who care deeply about the animals (and humans) they meet.
