Some dogs leave paw prints. Others leave a legacy.

Manic was one of Australia's most respected military working dogs, serving with the 2nd Commando Regiment as a dual-purpose canine specialising in explosive detection, tracking and apprehension. From humble beginnings, he went on to serve alongside Australia's Counter Terrorism teams, serve in Iraq, and later receive national recognition for his extraordinary contribution and service.

In 2025, Manic was awarded the inaugural Australian Animal Distinguished Service Award at the Australian War Memorial, recognising his extraordinary contribution to Australia. He was also an ambassador for AWAMO, Military Working Dogs and their handlers, helping Australians better understand the sacrifice and loyalty of these remarkable animals.

But beyond the honours and achievements, Manic was deeply loved in his retirement for the quiet, gentle moments that made him who he was. Beach days, naps, Kong toys, cuddles and never straying far from Jason and his family.

Rest easy, Manic. Thank you for your service, loyalty and love you have so freely given.

Did you know that sentimental keepsakes such as real flowers, handwritten letters, drawings from loved ones, and favourite treats may accompany your pet during cremation as a final act of love and remembrance? 🐾

For larger or bulky items that cannot be cremated whole, our team will lovingly place a small piece of the item with your pet as a tribute.

Some questions worth asking:

→ What are my options when the time comes?
→ How will I know when my pet is ready?
→ What after‑care arrangements should I be thinking about?

You don’t need to have all the answers today. You just need to start the conversation. Your vet is there to help, and so are we xo
