Cryptorchids, or Rigs, are male horses who have one or both testicles that have not descended. They remain up in the inguinal region or abdomen and if not removed can still produce testosterone to cause stallion behaviour and are a torsion risk.

Our man Whiskey, had both his testicles retained in his abdomen. Even though he was impeccably behaved, for his health, we opted to perform a standing laproscopy surgery with the team at UQ VETS. I am happy to say everything not only went well but he has found his forever home!

It was sad to see him go but we are excited for his harness future as a healthy gelding.

A stunning winters day to be driving horses!
The ladies came to work today with a Percheron, a Suffolk, a Clydesdale and Drum all out on the field.
A heap of fun and lots achieved.
Thanks to Amy and Natasha for a good day spent with friends and to Bob for your help and instruction.

It's August the 1st! Which means that is the universal birthday for all horses in Australia (and the entire Southern hemisphere).

Happiest of Birthdays to all the horses that make up the family here at SHHH.

Whilst our animals are registered and we know their real birthdays, to stop confusion in the racing and equestrian industry, it's practise to just celebrate all horses together on the 1st of August.

So carrots were handed out at breakfast and extra kisses for our equine friends.
